Oximore 3/19/07 . chapter 1That's so lovely, I love it! |
Joyeee 3/17/07 . chapter 1I really liked Hephaestion's circuitous thought process at the start - he was so charmingly confused! I'd say he's actually being quite reasonable despite his belief otherwise, especially in trying to be happy for Alexander, even acknowledging Hector's good points! And, when he feels pity for Alexander - thinking it was cruel of Hector to have the game and _not_ kiss Alex, and wondering how in the world anyone could be indifferent to the boy he thought was better than anyone else in the world - that was wonderful. Lovely example of "agape" for this story! Hector was the surprise delight here, lots of fun, all grins and games, but not a "little brother" figure so much as a co-conniver - or more. He's the one with the master plan, after all! Cassander's protectiveness of Nikanor is funny and seems so in character from "The Sunny Wall," and as always I love the banter and easy companionship between all of the boys. But now I want to know Alexander's side of it! He seems rather confident in this, not allowing whatever nervousness he may have, any fears of Hephaestion's possible rejection, to deter him - even when he says "You didn't even try" with that disappointment in his voice. Was he actually as anxious about it as Hephaestion? How long had it been since he realized he loved Hephaestion best, until he and Hector finally got around to this scheme? (Seems likely, at least to me, that Hector contrived all this just for Alexander and Hephaestion! - "Name the one you love and give him a kiss" indeed! Which just makes me like Hector even more!) And a charming ending for a charming, wonderfully cheering story - Thanks very much! |
Tastytime 2/3/07 . chapter 1This was so cute. I really liked reading it, and Hephaestion's inner monologue made me laugh a hell of a lot. Hope to see more of this light hearted stuff |
CoralDawn 1/28/07 . chapter 1Very, very cute story of Alexander, Hephaistion and friends as teens and taking early steps into this complicated thing called love! Hephaistion's confusion about roles and what it all entails is hilarious. Thankfully Alexander has a very helpful friend in Hector (Nicanor's and his kiss was quite sweet, by the way!), and through an interesting variation of kottabos, is able to declare his feelings openly. I enjoyed the fun all of them seemed to be having, including Cassander! Your lovely humor shines through this story, as in so many of your tales - and what I enjoy most in your writing! |
Del Rion 1/28/07 . chapter 1Can I just "aww" without losing my cool exterior..? This was ... funny. Sweet. Loving. So utterly confused. "Angsty". Hehe, you can tell I liked it. Lightly written, which suited the story, and so on. And by the end of the story, it really seemed Hephaistion was drunk even if you did not state it ;) Great work, once again *bows* BTW, what's your name in LJ? moon71? (I will friend you when I know who you are :D) |
Arlad 1/25/07 . chapter 1FANTASTIC! Oh, this was a lovely, sweet, funny story... Hephaestion's anguish and love for Alexander was wonderful... oh, it was just the story I needed to read to lift my spirits. Loved the drinking game, and the moment when Hephaestion realizes Alexander chose him was a perfect mixture of joy, clumsiness and love. Great! Arlad |
Norrsken 1/25/07 . chapter 1Dear moon71, Your Kottabos! is a lovely tale about youthful and innocent games, deepening into true Love and Friendship. Your Hephaestion POW is endearing, and his confusion about lovers and beloveds and their doings is hilarious. :) This game could actually have taken place in the ancient Pella Palace. I can see our friends, talking, playing and carousing. The ending, with Hephaestion's joyful surprise when his Beautiful Golden One chooses him, and then his own successful aim & purpose, it's so very beautiful and tells us about future friendship. All the best wishes and many thanks for sharing, /NorthernLight |
Baliansword 1/25/07 . chapter 1As always, I was enthralled with this fiction. I enjoy your writing, which is always simplistic it seems (in a good way), but the meaning is always so deep. I truly enjoyed this, and I cannot wait for more. I love that Alexander had this drinking game set up, just so that he could share his true feelings with Hephaestion. Knowing that they both felt the same, from the beginning, was great. As always, cannot wait for another story penned in your hand. Baliansword |
angstman 1/25/07 . chapter 1 Great story. Your story make me smile. |
khepri2 1/24/07 . chapter 1Lovely little story and Hephaestion's confusion on what a lover or beloved did or did not too was priceless! |
MLygia 1/24/07 . chapter 1Oh! How lovely is Hephaestion here, so shy and jealous. But in his age, I think that it's normal. Fortunately Alexander knew how to play and got to kiss his Hephaestion. I liked when he complains with Hephaestion“You didn’t even try,”.Thank you for writing. |
purple lolly 1/24/07 . chapter 1 Cheers for that and lads bottoms up |
