wow... that was so good! you have to be one of the most talented of writers! and i read take care of the poor boy a bit ago, so then i saw this was up here and it took me a bit but i rented guys and dolls just so i could read this. bravo.

I can never look at Blink in the same way again...but in a good way. :) This story totally rocks and took me 2 days to read.

I went and reread this whole thing since it’d been so long and I’m afraid I’m really a bit speechless. The reconciliations we see in this story are so beautifully pieced together and constructed that I feel as though I were sitting in David’s (or Blink’s, really) head the whole time. It’s so sweet (and bittersweet). Sarah was wonderful, Nick was adorable and Jack was just as flawed as he should have been. I think it’s so fantastic that Our Hero is such a flawed character. It makes him so interesting to mess around with, even if it does cause the supporting characters so much pain.

A triumph, B! A serious victory. I cannot wait to see more from you.

Oh, this is perfect. Perfect! Jack's hat falling off, whispering about not being able to kiss Dave...so perfect. SO perfect. And yay, California!

The best element of this story overall is David's characterisation. (Don't get me wrong, Adelaide!Blink is my FAVORITE THING EVER and he and Billy really do need a playdate, but anyway...) He is spot-on throughout the whole story from start to end--I don't think I've ever really seen a better David. He's perfectly original canon David. I could hear David Moscow saying all of this, every single bit of dialogue. Heck...in the scenes where he's pondering to himself, I can hear him ponder. He's perfect. You're so good at capturing the essence of the characters, you deserve to be gushed over all the time.

I really REALLY am looking forward to any little future fics we might get. Because seriously...YAY EX-NEWSIES IN CALIFORNIA!!

This has got to be one of the best planned fics (particularly fusion fics) in the history of fandom, and not just our little Newsies slash bubble. I stand (erm, slouch...?) in awe of your thorough overlap of the song themes and characters and plots.

Nathan's description of love melted my heart. Les' smart-mouthed comment made me laugh out loud -- way to give him some wits and and character. Distraught David is somehow delicious. And I'm happy Sarah's happy. Oh, I'm also very happy Race and Blink are having lots and lots of sex, as they should be. *nods*

One more thing? About the previous chapter, actually... I read it again last night, and don't feel I was appropriately excited abut that kiss before. It was beautifully done. The image and feel of it stuck with me all day today -- a fine thought indeed to carry around. So thanks for that, too!

I read your other mammoth-fic, HISMSV, because it was on the favorites list of mxdot, and even though the idea of a modern retelling of Newsies appeals to me not-at-all, I was absorbed by it. I avoided this one because I know nothing about Guys and Dolls, but finally (after two whole days) I gave it a shot, and I like it even better!

I don't know how you did it, but this feels so real to me; I'd call it like the movie, except it has more to it than the movie (although perhaps not more to it than the movie plus huge amounts of slash fandom that seem to now be canon, haha). There are new takes on characters that are brave but well thought-out (I love the new Blink, although I don't really understand everyone's obsession with him given that he's in the movie for all of 5 minutes), and so they are credible. I am utterly convinced that Jack is *really* Jack, and that David is *really* David,and I cannot think of higher praise than that. I can only hope this one proceeds with a bit more alacrity than your last (I became more and more amused that every chapter ended with the author's note, "sorry it's been six months, guys...").
