And just for those readers who may be a bit confused...

In the game, if you trade in a Pokemon that is too high a level for the number of badges you have, then it won't obey you, just like the Alakazam is described doing here.

I like the interpretation you gave to that, and the consequences when it gets traded back. A whole new theme to explore... the psychology of trading Pokemon!

Actually, this whole thing makes sense. I believe the trade-evolution works in the wild when a Pokemon breaks away from the group to gain more experience and join other packs; this clean break is emphasised by it evolving into a new creature (i.e. Golem, which will now only breed w/ Golems and give birth to Golems). When humans MAKE this happen, it is much different. How COULD you trust a person if they would do that? And why should you when they don't even try to make up for it?

You get really funny ideas sometimes... The story was cool though!

poor alakazam! my first pokemon i ever heard of were: Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam. of corse back then i thought the uys in my class were going crazt talking like that so...
