There's always the telephone, he just doesn't seem to have the courage to communicate with her. Loved how Nick took the news from Sara. He's just the sweetest man. Loved it. Audra

El Gringo Loco 2007-02-03 ch 1,	abuseOk, Sara feels comfortable talking to Nick. But I think he sees himself more as a protective brother. (Growing up around 7 or 8 sisters, he'd have had a lot of experience.) As such he places her off limits. A respected friend and colleague as opposed to fair game for the fraternity playboy he's often portrayed as. As for Grissom, he's a self centered idiot, Period.

And I like that Nick is able to push aside the hurt at being kept in the dark because of his concern for Sara. There is just such a connection between Sara and Nick, and even if people don't see it translating into a romantic interest (which obviously we do :) ), I don't understand why the writers don't utilize it as much as they could. Another amazing fic!
