| Gwinna 2007-04-13 ch 1, | abuseI actually read this and "What controls your thoughts" a while back (not too long after you posted them), and this one really freaked me out... Stupid me for reading something in the horror category. I suppose the fact that it really did "horrify" me shows that you did a good job. I do have some criticism: I found it hard to understand what was going on at times - I couldn't figure out what Harry and Ginny actually did until I read that part a few times (I'm not sure I quite understand it all even now), and at the end - was Tom in contact with old Death Eaters or something? I was a little confused. Anyway, very interesting idea, though honestly I don't actually think it would happen, since I agree with Harry - Tom wouldn't be evil if his previous life was completely erased. I don't think people are good or evil by nature after all. But as I said, very interesting and well-executed story. |
| Bagge 2007-02-05 ch 1, | abuseI tip my hat to you, Bellona, for your ability to present the characters in yet another situation, with yet a new and fresh relationship to each other. Harry and Ginny as Tom Riddle's parents. And the deadly game from when she was eleven starts anew. A chilling story, with the characters remarkably well captured given how far from canon situations they are. Tom Riddle as a child is everything I expect of him. Ginny as a mother of a child she fears and hates is an interesting mix between being mortified - and fight back. She is a strong one, our Ginny. And a distant Harry, who is harder to see clearly - which is just as it should be because the story is told with Ginny's and Tom's voices - and they are both lying to the other. And lastly - I loved the way the story was told through Ginny's and Tom's letters. I haven't read Lionel Shriver's book, but I looked it up, and I can see how well your remake of it fits. |
