Very cute story. Poor River was all upset that her lion wasn't who she expected him to be. I liked how upset Jayne was that he couldn't have been that for her, and his disappointment about not being able to be a hero.

Oh! Took me a couple of minutes, but I got there in the end. Cinderella!! That made me giggle. I like the mouse and the lion parallels you applied to River and Jayne, and I also think the idea of the two of them having a connection years before Serenity is very cool. If you ever find the inspiration, I'd love to see a sequel to this! Good work anyhow :-)

Oh, no. After setting up that hint of a Cinderella addition, you cannot just end the story there. Please?
