You are funny, I actually wondered the same thing, she gets absolutely ignored throught the whole series! Poor thing! Even thought I wanted Miaka+Hotohori pairing and hated when he got married I still couldn't stop feeling sad for the poor wife! It looks like they were married only few months, maybe even a weeks! To have the hottest guy in the series for so little and then be left alone with the weird kid for the rest of her life!!! In the last episode, before Miaka made her last wish, they all were deciding what wish she should make, I've heard that Hotohori said that maybe she will wish him and her to stay in the real world together, maybe it was a joke and it's something different in Japanese version, but I am sure I've heard him say that. And when he died his last thoughts were of Miaka, and he was lovingly caresing her face on the picture even though he had a pregnant wife at home. In the OVA he cares more about his son then his wife. It's just kinda funny, they shouldn've married him at all or kill his wife off in the beginning, because she is not doing anything there anyways!
