Oh god, my face is red. This is the funniest ficlet I have read in a long time! I can see why this is on a couple of collections... it's just made of win.

"You know i had a girlfriend once..."

i was laughing so freaking hard at Clockwork's failed attempts to tell the story of his girlfriend. i have one thing to say that had fallen into my mind the second i read that line:

Clockwork did not earn the title of "seriously crazed up frootloop." However, the cat isn't a very bad idea in my book.

If anyone had actually listened, this is what I think they wouldve gotten...



“I’ve never been so depressed in my entire afterlife,” The Fright Knight groaned as he took another drink at the mini-bar.

“I hear you,” came the calm and collected voice of Clockwork. He looked over at the dance floor and saw several ghosts dancing; he twitched, and then downed another glass.

“I thought the Observants didn’t like you coming to these sorts of things?” The Fright Knight asked.

“I had Danielle and Youngblood take care of it,” he said simply.

“Shouldn’t you be…I don’t know, looking after time or something though?”

“Klemper is looking after the staff. I told him if anyone tries to take it, to be friends with them.” Clockwork said in a deadpan tone.

Clockwork continued, "You know, I had a girlfriend once. Of course it was a complete and utter disaster. She always wanted a pony. And she always wanted to dance. I can’t dance very well...I should’ve gotten her the pony. She liked to dress me up a lot. That was okay. The skirt was quite comfortable. Had a nice breeze to it...I miss my cookie hat. She used to always make me wear it while I ate her cookies-er not that I ate cookies! That’s incredibly childish." Insert blush.

"Then I became the master of time...she always demanded I help her change her past. Of course being the incredibly loyal ghost I am," The Fright Night rolled his eyes and looked for means of escape, "I never did. This went on for several months. Until one day I got fed up with her screaming in my ear and locking me out of our house, that I went back in time and made sure she was never born."

The Fright Night backed away very slowly, as to not alert the master of time that he was creeping him out and wanted to be far away. "But then one day-" Clockwork realized that he was talking to himself. He sighed. "I knew that would happen at one point." Danny walked up to him, just meaning to say hi and be off. This was very unfortunate for the halfa. "Hey Clockwork. Haven’t seen you in a while. What’s up?"

"Oh nothing, boy. The usual." After several seconds of silence and Danny quietly sipping at his drink...

"You know, I had a girlfriend once..."

Do you actually ship this stuff?

O_o Wow...just...wow. I actually REALLY like this story. I enjoy the prospect of EVERYONE in the ghost zone hooking up with each other (except, of course, for the poor Fright Knight and Clockwork...) and Danny being forced into helping all of them (especially that singing frog guy...Michigan J...right)very clever having him come from Ember and Skulker--I can see the resemblence *wink*. So...yeah. Great story!

Oh my gosh, I loved it! Sorry it took so long to get to it, but whenever I had time I forgot about it and whenever I remembered I didn't have time. :} But that part with Skulker and Ember's kid--priceless!! My jaw dropped so far, oh goodness. :D Great job!! I absolutely loved it. :D YAY!

*lets out mad cackle* Very fun story, UR! Very, /very/ fun! So many one-liners and nice descriptions, and the nods to the different episodes... I've got to admit, when this fic first came up, I was dreading it a little. I thought it was going to be clunky and contrived, with you trying to get everyone into it, but this worked really smoothly and well. Barely noticed you sneaking the pairings in at all... :D

You're getting better at crack, you know. Way to go!

EMBER: run.

SKULKER: (runs away in fear of being eaten)

EMBER:(smiles widely)(collaspes in laughter) I CAN'T BELIEVE HE FELL FOR THAT!

(Giggles hysterically) My favorite part was Clockwork. “You sure you have batteries in that Tucker? Because I once forgot to recharge the batteries in my staff once…and the bubonic plague got loose.”

Skulker Biologically Challenged? Brilliant. And Danny's scream when he found Writer and Jazz together was great too. Oh my, I knew the different pairings you were going to use, but this is so much better than musing. Actually getting to read them all together- perfect fic for SA-Day.
