It was heart-wrenchingly stirring, frighteningly intelligent, and FUNNY! With remarkably spot on character voices. Plus,I have a hidden angst bunny that likes Vaan whumpage too...(Please don't tell anyone.)

So all around, this fic surpassed all previous standards of excellence in this fandom--for me at least.

well rounded story awesome characterisation, despite that you say otherwise. It sounds greedy but the ending left me wanting more. I thought it was too sudden. It made me laugh tremendiously excellent work but please let your sub conscious annoy you as much as would force you to correct some grammer? XD

:chuckles: I liked the ending to this. It amuses me greatly that, in response to all of Balthier's words and thoughts and reasons of why their whatever it's called needs to end, Vann just says 'no'. And that's it for Vaan. I like, I really do, and I'm glad this had a happy ending.

I'm faving this, also, because it is great. I especially liked when Balthier takes a hit for Vaan, when he had just said a month - was it a month? - earlier that he never would.

I loved how you made Vaan more than the annoying child that most fanfics describes him as. This is seriously the best Balthier/Vaan fanfic I have read so far. Fran and Penelo wasn't mentioned much, which is sort of sad since they are interesting characters. But nothings perfect.

Hell, I'm even loving the confusion Balthier's cryptic musings caused because that was part of the reason it felt like these characters' presences were totally and unavoidably /there/. Add to that the taste of the dry heat of the desert and the mind-altering effects of cactus juice, and god I worship you.

First, darling put the self-depreciating blather at the end of the story. If I hadn't caught the first line of prose, I would have hit the back button so hard and been bereft of this fine example of someone actually knowing how to write.

Your prose leaves very little to be desired, and aside from something like two or three spelling mistakes, you've done a real top job at writing out full, explored, deep characters. Give yourself a bleeding pat on the back, already. After this work, you damn well deserve it.

I've been looking for this pairing but scared to find the dregs of fanfic in it, but then the first fics I read are yours, and wow, what gens. Both this fic and your other ffXII fanfic are wonderful. The characterization was great, as well as the slow build to the relationship in the end.
Your prose is also fantastic. Your descriptions and just your style of writing is so smooth and well done that it makes reading this such a joy. I particularly liked the whole seeing ghosts aspect.
