Absolutely beautiful. It's easy to write Sasuke's actions but not his thoughts, and yet you did wonderfully. He was in character-everyone was. I also like your phrasing, 'book of purple prose' is a good way to put that. Very well done.

You're an amazing writer, seriously. There's such a depth to the way you describe everything - you're right inside Sasuke's mind, and you're whittling him down to the core, very accurately I think. It's weird, because sometimes I despise Sasuke for betraying Naruto and trying to kill him and causing everyone such pain, and other times I want to cry for him because of all his pain, all of the blood and misery in his past, and this fic makes me waver between the two. This is so deep, so good, so filling somehow, and yet still leaving me hungry and empty. Reading this makes me feel like someone's moulding my soul with their hands - sometimes they squeeze hard, or gently, or they shape my soul into something deeply meaningful but that I don't recognize. Anyway, this is good. And I mean really, really, breathtakingly good.

Exceptionally written story. I could not really find any aspect of your writing that you need to drastically work on. Therefore, all I can tell you is to keep on writing, improving, and developing great stories.

I really liked the poem you used in between sections, it didn't detract from the story at all. And there were quite a couple of lines I really really REALLY liked, either for the wording or because I thought they were very true. "...made him spit blood at fate because he was supposed to be in control and he was not, not, not supposed to start to care. Except he was. And Sasuke was finally starting to realize the implications of that."
"he Hyuuga bloodline does not demand human sacrifices." Whee!
"And Naruto must not follow, because Sasuke wasn’t sure that he could cling on to his sanity long enough to ensure the blond’s survival. The Mangekyou Sharingan could wait. But his quest of vengeance could not."

Anyway, I thought it was a good piece and that you got into Sasuke's position very well. I'm not sure if Sasuke would have planned attaining a friend from the very beginning for the purpose of Mangekyou (to me I think he'd bury that all in the back of his head because he's STILL too kind to truly seriously consider it), but his dread after realizing Naruto is his closest friend, especially after Itachi's return and his increased need to get more power, is really true..(sorry, whenever I read fics its always important to me what they're saying versus what I think @_@;; not trying to be a bigot). Keep writing&improving! I think you're on your way to becoming a really great writer.

This was excellent; you really got into Sasuke's head and the whole thing is very in character. You've got a kind of free-flowing prose style here that does a very good job of capturing the occasionally chaotic trains of thought that people have. It makes this fun to read. And I love how you explored Sasuke slowly coming to realize what Naruto is to him, and the situation he's gotten himself into.

So yeah, great job. ^_^

dark and descriptive; i like it. Very good insight in to sasukes thoughts on is best friend. i was a little confused if he is meant to be thinking all this at one point, like hes looking back on it all as he walks away from the valley of the end after fighting naruto?

Are you a poet? there is a poetic feel about your writting that shows through. just some phrasing you've used.
