Velkyn Karma 2008-09-24 ch 1,	abuseLovely. I really admire the way this is set up--a collection of drabbles that make one complete story. I think it sets the tone perfectly. It's short, sweet, and to the point, but has just enough description to really affect a reader. Which is just like Byakuya really--he's always so calm-looking, you'd never picture him being exceptionally emotional. So the writing style is really in character for him. Not to mention the way you describe him in the fic, as well--also nicely in character. Only a few minor mistakes (I believe it is 'he lay back' instead of 'lied' for example, which implies verbal untruth) but otherwise, very well written. Not enough GOOD Byakuya fics out there. I applaud you. :) ~VelkynKarma

The description of how it is so painful that everything is still so normal is something that I know from experience with real death as being true. The haunting of the footsteps, and being unable to sleep or distinguish in his mind is so real through your descriptions, and just so absolutely heartbreaking. I do think this is what likely would have happened had Byakuya let Rukia die. Oh my, it hurts to think about it, eh??
(T_T) 2007-09-20 ch 1, anon.	abusewow, major angst and I loved every minute of it! For some reason, recently, I find myself sorta liking byakuya even though he's such a cold and odd man. Anywho, this fic makes byakuya a very sympathetic character.

I really enjoyed it... well, I didn't really enjoy the suffering of Byakuya... but it is a brillaint piece of writing. And it's quite true, the 'Coda - reality'. I had actually wondered, while I read the manga, what would happen if Ichigo didn't step in to save Rukia and Byakuya had just stood by and watched her die. You've managed to grasp the situation perfectly, and this AU seems so true if the Rukia deaths had been the case. I was kind of hoping that Byakuya would see his sister in the end, even as he lay dying... but I think it is more fitting that he didn't (as far as we know..) and the ending was left obscure. His coldness, deteriorating sanity, inner war with himself... I think you've portrayed it perfectly. Moving as this was, I'm pretty glad this wasn't what happened, and that Byakuya lived happily ever after with growing relationships with Rukia :) (I do wonder... in this AU... how would Ichigo have reacted? Guilt at being unable to save Rukia. Feeling helpless and weak for not being able to conjure enough power to protect? Stripped of his shinigami powers, the only remainder of Rukia he has, and booted back into the human world, unseen and unheard ever again? Sounds like an idea for a new story?? nudge nudge XD)
