I really liked this story. Not a lot of stories focus on the youth from the East side. Great characterization, and great writing!

so Pony gets a dose of real reality, even after everything that happened. beautifully written and thought out, i imagine my mom would have reacted the same way, minus the yelling, if some guy walked me home when i was eight. You have a talent for writing eight year olds, you captured the innocence and playfulness that they all have, and how she thought her mother was still going to come and get her was really sweet, the child has an undying confidence in her mother. wonder when it will wear out. overall, very well written (i think i said that already)and nicely done.

The first thing I did when you mentioned the song this was inspired by, I found it and listened to it while I read. I loved how everything seemed to fit. You're story is so sad but (Strangely) positive. I just think it's one of the most beautiful pieces I've read in my time on Honestly. If this was in a contest, I'd vote for it. This is going to my favorites.

I liked it all right. I wish now-a-day tenth grade guys were as nice as Pony ;) psh. Like that wouls ever happen, lol.

I really liked it...I love how you have Pony remembering Johnny through all these bad things he's seeing. I really like Mary - you did a good job of making her seem young, but not too young, especially when she got to her house.

I love how Pony just doesn't want to confront it all over again. I imagine he would've been faced with a lot of moments like that through his life.

aww this story is so sweet i liked that you used Ponyboy as one of the main charchter and how she reminded of Jhonny in a way.great one shot im glade you deicded to post it !

I remember those lacey socks! I used to have those when I was a little kid.

Mary is so adorable. Oh my goodness. She definitely reminds me of ... well, I actually think she reminds me of my cousin Sophia. They both share that cute, flouncy personality.

"Mary had the face of her father, someone Ponyboy guessed she had never seen." I loved that line. Just the fact that neither of them had ever seen her father, but yet he could pick up on the fact that she looked like him ... it just struck a chord with me. It sounds so deep.

I really liked this, all of it. Just the different take on everything - you don't hear too much about little kids on that side of town, just the teenagers - was really fantastic. You did a really great job with that and I think it definitely makes up for the Ted hiatus.

I think Mary's reaction to her mother's behavior was very realistic, too - she's too young to understand the extent of who her mother is and why she's acting that way, and instead covers it up with something positive. I like that Ponyboy was able to recognize that, too.

Anyway, lovely job. I'm adding this to my Favorites. :)
