I agree with Aristander... your experiences in life shape the person you become and how you handled them, defined your character. I have both pity and contempt for how Alexander treated Heph, but Heph was partly responsible for allowing him to do that...it was great to see him take a stand. Eager for more.
Baliansword 2007-04-09 ch 11,	abuseAgain, a nice chapter. I feel Hephaestion's pain; his conflict between loving the man (Alexander) that had beaten his soul for so long. I also feel the loss that he has for Cassander, even if seldomly admitted. It is heart-breaking to hear Hephaestion say that he does not like the man he is becoming as well. xxmorbidloserxx 2007-04-04 ch 10,	abusei read baliansword's review and i couldn't help but agree with her many points. my feelings about this chapter are mixed; it's one of my least favorites of this story but it is still interesting nonetheless. i'll be watching out for the next to watch the story's progress, but most importantly (at least to me) the development of hephaestion's p.o.v. regarding his relationships, cassander's character, and alexander.
Baliansword 2007-04-04 ch 10,	abuseBy the end of this chapter I was like...OMFG! But I guess that is a good reactions. This is an interesting AU, and sometimes I'm torn between loving it and hating it. It is so different from the truth, and so at times I get frustrated. Yet then I remember that it is meant to be an AU, completely different, and I calm down -reread it- and find myself liking it. All of your twists and turns are nice to see, and I still can't wait to read more. However, I feel as if there is a void within Hephaestion, even though he thinks he is happy. I'm not sure if he regrets leaving Alexander, or Cassander, but there is something missing. ~Baliansword
xxmorbidloserxx 2007-03-29 ch 9,	abuseoh what a surprise! at first, i was thrilled that cassander went to macedon to see hephaestion. but to deliver this terrible news, that alexander is dead?? how sad! i like the glimpse into hephaestion's life (i cannot have enough of him) but i'm a bit disappointed. the moments with his father, children, and heshaylae are too brief. and hephaestion is a very different person now: hardened by war, bitter because of his failed relationship with alexander and the death of their love. the change is jarring (i guess i'm too used to the sensitive, compassionate hephaestion) but i like it. i loved the chapter. thanks for updating!! can't wait for the next.

xxmorbidloserxx 2007-03-26 ch 8,	abusei can't believe cassander left hephaestion in the desert, even though they'd fallen for each other (i was so sure that, after their night together, he would join his departure). i would love to see further development of their relationship. i must admit that hephaestion's separation from alexander makes me sad, because i can't picture one without the other. i loved the gaze into hephaestion's background, though i would truly appreciate a bit more (about his family, his father amyntor, his childhood/adolescence apart from alexander, and his relationship with heshaylae).

Baliansword 2007-03-23 ch 7,	abuseMon Dieu, I cannot believe that Hephaestion and Alexander are now this separated. However, I am siding with Hephaestion on this one. Alexander has no right to sleep around and expect that Hephaestion cannot. I was also a bit repulsed by Alexander when he said that Hephaestion belonged to him. Can't wait to see more, but I hope that Alexander and Hephaestion can settle their differences. Also, I want to see what Cassander winds up doing in the next chapter. ~Baliansword

xxmorbidloserxx 2007-03-21 ch 7,	abusewow this was a great chapter, full of surprises. i never ever expected hephaestion to lay with cassander and abandon alexander! i must say that i like hephaestion's determination to be independent from alexander, not to be owned anymore. i just never thought he would actually leave the king's side. i am desperate to know what he'll do now. can't wait to see how the story turns out!!
