This is a pretty good different Keitaro story and his backstory sounds promising not to mention an interesting fictional country based of the conflicts on what used to be Yugoslavia also glad he's shown a far more caring attitude towards Kanako in comparison to the disgusting and disgraceful way he treated her in the manga/anime.

Also without the proper educational background there is no way that Keitaro could keep that meaningless promise though his promise to Kanako is something that definitely counts mind you.

Also wondering why the selfish, senile Hina will try now that her grand plans will not be possible as she was more interested in Keitaro keeping that silly and invalid promise more then his well being in fact Hina showed more concern for the girls then her own family. Plus its obvious in how she likes to play with lives and hide the truth from others even her own family.

Also you've portrayed the girls mostly accurate though Su's ideas of 'playing' may bring flashbacks and he'd definitely object to her so called greetings.

Also given how Kitsune likes to trick and cheat people she may or may not try this with Keitaro especially as how in the manga she always schemed a way to get Keitaro attacked and even cleaned his life savings even left him with at best barely enough money to keep Hinata House afloat if you want to portray her in a more sympathetic manner please be convincing and give more reasons why she would be.

Also as long as you don't portray the girls as being all sorry with nowhere else to go you'll do fine in your fics the only girl with a clue about hardships is Shinobu to be frank with you.

Otherwise you've got a great story going on her provided you return to it.

Oh yes! Haruka put Naru in a proper place! That was amazing, my fellow! And I enjoyed the post-traumatic stress explanation. Keep up the good work.

Interesting indeed. I was rather hoping that Keitarou would drop into some sort of primal survival mode and charge Naru, but I guess Kanako is able to ensure that Naru gets what she deserves. Could make for quite the story if the girls actually have to be CAREFUL around Keitarou for a change. I'm rooting for a Kana x Kei pairing. Keep writing!

Nit-pick unrelated to the story itself. No fighting has ever occurred between "Croation" and "Serbian" nationalists. Plenty of fighting has occurred between CATHOLIC and ORTHODOX churchgoers. Don't let the religions of the world wash their hands of their crimes by hiding behind euphemisms.

Political correctness aside, I do applaud your attempt to work real-world conflict into a fanfiction. If I'm not mistaken, your Keitarou enlisted (or was he conscripted?) at the age of 10? You've got guts, not to shy away from issues such as military use of children. I'm curious to see what comes of this piece of work.

This looks excellent. Absolutely glorious. Child soldier Keitaro, veteran of a Yugoslavian breakup-esque war? WANT.

This is a great start to the whole fic and it has an excellent premise to it particuarly with the inspiration being the wars in what used to be Yugoslavia. Looking forward to whatever pairing may occur and also how the girls would relate to this Keitaro.

Be interesting to see how he would respond to Naru and Motoko's attitudes towards him which I imagine will happen.

I remember talking to Grey Wolf about this idea and with the apparent Kei/Kan, it's becoming even better, I just hope you can keep the bashing down to what the story needs and not overdo it.

Nice story; I'm reading this more for the KeitaroKanako romance I'm assuming it'll contain rather than the war aspect of it so I hope you don't put too much of a focus on the latter. In any case, good luck on the next chapter I'm looking forward to seeing this story progress.
