one thing i notcied in the Anyanka chapters, not sure but doesnt she have to give the necklace to the person(she put it on Cordie to make her wish, which allowed giles to in the end destroy it). totally unsure its just something i picked up on.

Excellent story so far, which I just read from the beginning. Unpredictable things often happen, and there are always consequences. I was especially startled when Mrs Elliott made her wish, when Rack decided to negotiate and when Veronica was confronted with the witches. I suspect you are into GMing?

I have no idea who VM is like, but the detailed narration is nice, we get the mundane daily stuff, Veronica's thought processes (nice job not breaking the fourth wall in this chapter), besides the events of the story.

Holy hell this story is amazing! Granted, it features two of my favorite shows, but given their caliber, it takes a really talented writer to pull off a decent cross. This is more than decent.

Looking forward to more.

Last line was excellent but favorite line is : The comics are not continuity. They’re Joss Whedon’s fanfiction.

Obviously I support VM's choice. But I think you gave the best argument for intervening: she's supposed to make things better. You're absolutely right, she has to make changes in order to win the bet. Well reasoned.

Personally, I think removing Spike would be an improvement in and of itself. I hope the Adversary agrees with me. The question is, is he looking at the Buffy-verse from an entertainment viewpoint or is he looking at it from the perspective of the characters' lives? Because it would suck for her to work her butt off and have him fail her because their improved lives would be less entertaining to watch on TV.

It's interesting that Veronica keeps saying that Season 8 and After the Fall are Whedon's fanfictions. I'm wondering what the Adversary has to say about that. I mean, it's not like Whedon just said something was so and so, he actually continued his work through another medium.

A way to deal with the duo would be to give them souls. That would probably mess Drusilla's head to beyond Joker levels, though.

I like what you did. Might anger some Buffy fans, but you kept it about Veronica and you kept it about the bet.

"Unless that was the ‘lesson’ he was trying to teach me. The Adversary never put any limitations on me researching him, and it had come up in the course of my phony search for Epimetheus anyway, that his ‘bets’ were always about teaching someone a lesson."

"It might lose me the bet, but that was okay with me.

I might lose, but I would be damned if I was going to concede."

I believe we might have found the lesson folks...

Does it do any good to point out that during season 2 of Angel, Wolfram & Hart bring back Darla as a human? She is dying of syphilis-related heart disease and wants to be a vampire again. Drusilla is brought in by Wolram & Hart to re-vamp her. And then all the lawyers except Lindsey & Lilah are killed. And Connor is born.

And as we all know Spike sacrifices himself for Buffy. And goes to L.A. And helps Angel. And fights in the final battle.

My vote is a big fat yes to warn Drusilla & Spike.

Warning Spke and Dru seems to be the more interesting way of going next. Especially if Buffy or someone from the Scooby Gang finds out about her 'betrayal'.

If Spike dies, the world dies, it's pretty simple math. :/

She should do whatever saves the most lives long term, it can't appear to be an easy choice, because that would make the bet way too simple... Saving Spike would call in to question whether she really cared for the scoobies (which she now seems to) but its good for elements of the plot. I think that for plot and moral of the story reasons Spike and Dru need to be saved just in order to put some conflict at all levels of the story.

Sorry that this is short and rambly, but I'm off to school shortly... if I think of anything else, I'll email.

In addition to whatever other points people have made, Veronica should probably consider that her participation could be the linchpin of whether the plan succeeds or fails: Remember, Drucilla can't foresee her actions, so her participation could be very very useful.

So, even staying well away could be held by The Adversary to be a firm decision.

Absolutely she should help Buffy. Failing to help now on the off-chance that will help more later ... is a mug's game.

Help now, and plan to help again in the future. It ought to the the "Martian Manhunter Motto".
