Loved it. I always wished that we could have seen Sam grieving for Jessica after the pilot. I know he missed her througout the whole season, but I would have liked to see how he dealt with her death immediatly after it happened. So thanks for writing this, this is how I see it happening. THis was very well written. I loved when Sam's friends were at the motel and Dean got all protective. It was very in-character.

What a wonderful piece. I have always felt that Kripke did what happened to Jessica and Sam a huge injustice by not allowing a more physical show of grief in the show. A hint here or there but definitely nothing that showed the depth of pain Sam must have been feeling and still is. Hell we find out in the season ender that Sam was going to propose and that didn't even get a reaction during any other subsequent episode.

Anyways, enough ranting. Like I said, very well done. The boys were in character and it was very easy to visualize this piece. And I have to say 'kudos' to you for acknowledging that Sam had only been gone for just over two years. A continunity error in Hookman put him away for four years and most people seem to have grabbed that instead of the other two times, two years was mentioned. :)

I love after-the-fire stories and this is one of my favorites! It's realistic and painful and hurts and I LOVE it. Especially the part about Sam's friends coming - there's no way he just left without even talking to any of them.

Dean's protectiveness and understanding always make me swoon, too. I love it when he gets all big brotherly. Aw.
