I've been listening to rent songs for abotu a week,and I have been thinking that this song would be perfect for Rin and Haru!I should tell You is an absolutely brilliant story!write another HaruXRin soon!

-Love that image, so much. Words are all she has, and she wields them like sharp, sarcastic throwing-knives. You put it so well.

"and she avoids intentionally kicking him when he dips her"
-Heh. She's such a nice girl.

It's just lovely, all the character being put into the dance. Haru relentlessly ignores and breaks down walls, because it's what he does. Things are initiated, but Rin leads, because that is What She Does. And the whole, "We both know, but we'll pretend we don't and act like we don't care" attitude that makes up their entire relationship. Courting games, flirting with death, inevitability. Then breaking the barriers, and working so hard to put them all up again, to return to the relative safety of the status quo.

And you compact it all succinctly and lovely-ly into one night's short dance and capture it perfectly. That's the true genuis.

Ah~h, lalala. Dedication! Dance of Joy commencing, all innocent bystanders please stand back. And don’t we love you shamelessly back… You are so freaking awesome. Excuse me whilst I go practice the sin of Greed, because I am collecting these fics. And dedications give me a Swelled Head and License to Collect. Oh yes. *wriggle* This is going to be so cool. Wonderful song, completely wondrous characters. Oh-h-h-h-h-o Betty, as the Thief would say.

“There are too many people around her, and she finds it hard to breathe.”
- And can I ever relate. Partially because I’m wildly claustrophobic, and partially because you are a genius and have all sorts of little touches about lying smiles, tight chests, and big houses and thus one can only suffer along with the poor girl.

“Her heart stops and sinks…”
- So much love. I don’t even know why, precisely, just something about combining the two expressions. And… well, great minds, with the thinking alike. Of course he’s there, Isuzu!

“This is hard enough without him trying to read her soul off of her face.”
- Oh yes. Very private person, our Rin. Haru’s about the only one who ever could, or cared once he did, isn’t he, so… asset in a relationship, less of one when you’ve broken it off. Gods, the girl must be so tired. To want something, and know it’s right there, and then have to work to make it not come to you…

“She glares, cursing the damned wall for being so solid; keeping her from melting backwards through it.”
- I’m just going to cry. No, no melting! Stay with us. Okay, overreacting, but… not. Because it’s you, and it’s Rin, and thus everything means a lot more than it looks like.

“It’s too hard, it’s hard enough lying and convincing herself.”
- The absolute emotional exhaustion, I say again. It’s all so very not fair. If I were her I’d just start crying or screaming… only she’s doing her version, which is lashing out, and he’s not leaving, and it’s all a vicious circley thing.

“Listen to that.”
- I know, logically, that he’s talking about something else, but it sounds like he means Rin’s yelling/lying, like pay attention, and it’s so very Haru. Oh yes. So much love.

“The ass still sounds like this isn’t anything; doesn’t he realize that it’s going to kill them? How much it’s going to hurt?”
- Again, not sure what it is exactly, but… the undefinedness, maybe? Ugh, no, not that… Gah, I can’t get this. I suppose the important thing is that you did.

[At this point, I gave up reviewing-while-reading in the fine tradition of Windswift, and went instead with self-indulgent listening-to-music-while-reading route. I have to admit I don’t regret cheating this time.]

- Curse you. How do you make with witty banter and still make me want to cry…?

Then the whole dance, and I can’t pull all of that, but DAMN. So sweet and funny and seductive and painful.

“Why are you lying to me?”
- So Haru. Simple and clean question. All she has to do is be honest - and then magic them away to somewhere where that’s okay and doesn’t get people thrown out windows.

“He’s looking at her, and he can see what she’s thinking, see how little she hates him. He knows that she could stay, knows that that’s what she wants. Her face gives it all away.”
- …

“It would be so easy to just give in and end all of this, let them both rest.”
- Yes. Please. Oh gods, I’m gonna need a nap after this just from vicarious exhaustion. Though I confess to being gratified at finding this stuff about “tired” when I had it way back up there. You are, to say the least, obscenely talented at conveying your meaning before you get to the words. And, as any good English textbook will tell you, this lets the reader feel very accomplished.

“I’m not lying, you idiot.”
- But… oh, I don’t know, why… damnit. Ah I love you. So simple and small and horrific.

“Instead she pulls away from him and runs out of the room, her chest so tight she can’t breathe.”
- You know how much I love coming full circle. Now I need tissues…

Oh... I hope Haru still haven't given up on her! Wonderful!
