Interesting, but if I recall correctly, Jon volunteered to go to the wall with his uncle Benjen, Ned didn't summon him. And it's Bran, not Bren.

Apart from the above mistakes, this was quite good.

Not to burst your bubble, but Jon WANTED to go to the Wall. He asked Eddared and Benjen to go and they let him because he said there was no place for a bastard at Winterfell. So when you have Jon thinking why his father would /send/ him there...just...no.

How many of these books have you read?

Well. It's great to see some SoIaF fics coming through, but... well, I couldn't see anything NEW here. I mean, it's well-written, but it's basically repeating the same things we read in the books. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but it's just not that original.

You did a good job capturing what was very likely Jon's initial bitterness at being at the Wall, but there's something missing. I don't really feel as if you've broken any new ground here - GRRM already made it clear that Jon was bitter, resentful, and more haughty than most boys in his position would have had any right to be.

Why not a bit of a revision where you ratchet up his feelings? Raise the stakes a bit, so to speak. Try to show something inside the character that would allow a boy like he is here to very quickly grow into the Lord Commander of the Nightswatch.

Yes, it's a pity.

I'd love to read more fanfiction of SoIaF...
