kahpfan 2008-04-12 . chapter 40I've now read five of your stories in a week - I love how you have developed all the characters into believable well rounded people. I also love how you have fitted your new characters into the story as well. The only slight probelm I had with this story was understanding what the Irish people were saying given hat you had typed it pheontically but that's just me. I have irish relatives on my step dad's side and when they really get going they're incomprehensible! :-) They slow dow for me and mum when there's only two or three of them but when the whole family get's together we can;t understand a word they ay then they swing round on us and ask us a question and we're stumped!
Loved this story and am on to reading the next as soon as this review is sent!

Julia 2007-10-12 . chapter 40 I just wanted to thank you as I imagine thousands of previous readers have done. I came across your last story first and of course had to go back and trace the earlier pieces (thanks for that link by the way so many fictioners do not think of it!)
Your writing is amazing I can picture the characters in their full glory and I have been dismayed, laughed and cried in all the appropriate places. I obviously will watch this space for your next.
Only glitch I found and theres always one is your site has a prequel? which doesnt seem to link off anywhere... is this your WIP and therefore im pre empting?
Anyway regards from Australia and we thank you for not sending Wickham here our convicts are precious usually Irish dissenters and the poor who only stole a loaf of bread to try and survive. We would not welcome such a scoundrel here but I was more than pleased in your story Wickham was of type and you explained well through circumstances and actually had him redeem himself at his demise.. I think unheard of in any writings Ive read.
Last note before I ramble too much Geoffrey Darcy(Snr)what a master touch and Im guessing representative of many a skeleton in family closets. I know I said last note but I commend you so much on your ability to bring China India and other lands in with authority and I can only assume with Historical facts, dates and explanations... research or knowledge it seems impeccable.
All the best to you and thankyou for Mugen-san such a dry wit! |
tomoyohime8 2007-09-26 . chapter 7have you read the far pavilions by mm kaye? it is a wonderful piece of historical fiction set in India, a few decades after this period... it's amazing - i couldn't put the book down after i started - though it looks discouraging, around 700+ pages.
sorry if you thought that this was a review - i just thought that you'd like this sort of book - historical fiction doesn't appeal much to other people..
i've been reading your work for the past week! haven't stopped yet! hopefully i finish what you've currently posted sometime after my finals.. |
