I really enjoyed this story. You created so many visual images with your words.

I liked how Dean and Sam saw their surroundings in different views. Sam saw beauty, Dean saw a place trying to kill his brother.

You did a great job describing the area and the night sky. I liked the different ghosts that Dean met along the way as they tried to get Dean to open his eyes and see with his heart.

The poem was nice at the end as it gave us a brief history of some of the ghosts Dean met.

I really enjoyed this fic. There is so much going on here - ghosts appearing and talking to Dean, Sam and Dean hurt and trying to get to safety, Dean's fear of not making it, and of course, his endless humor. You write Dean's thoughts so well. A favorite line: “This place is crawling with John Wayne wannabes”. Loved your "cowboy/schoolmarm/preacher/'little house on the prairie extra" ghosts!

I really enjoyed how you showed Sam's and Dean's differing points of view. Sam sees the beauty of the wilderness, wants to learn more about the people buried there. Dean sees a threat to his and Sam's safety, doesn't care about the graves/ghosts/people/beauty, just wants to get the job done and get out alive. Only when he allows himself to really think about the people in the graves - to get involved, to care - only then, can he save both of them.

Loved the poem at the end - puts everything in perspective. You did a fabulous job with this very interesting, sometimes humorous, thoughtful story. Thanks for sharing each of these anniversary fics with us. You are a very talented, creative writer and I look forward to reading all of your work.

It's such an interesting idea and carried off so beautifully. It would have been too easy to have strayed into cheesy life afirming sentiment but you avoided that completely and skill fully. I'm really impressed, and I love the tone of the whole thing.

Absolutely wonderful! Sort of like A Christmas Carol to get Dean to wake up to what's important. Oh, he knows Sam's important, but he doesn't know that he's important, too. He NEEDS to see what Sam sees in so many things. There's more to life than hunting. There's beauty and pain and the fact that what God has done is eternal.

I've been to South Dakota and seen the Badlands. It's breathtaking! I'd hate for someone to go there and not SEE it.

Oh man, I LOVED this. Awesome imagery, and isn't it just awesome that, that was the whole point of the fic? For Dean to see the spirits and the land as something more then what they appear? As someone who lives in the same kind of sprawling, beautiful, mysterious country, I loved that especially.

And the limp!Sam... aw. I loved Dean's worries for him - especially the way he kept checking his forehead for fever. Big brothers are the best. ;D
