That was really nice. I liked the bit about letting go, especially since most authors won't let the characters do just that. I did find the similarity to "Waiting in Purgatory" a bit disturbing, though. (dear lord, I plugged something.)

Very nice story. I like that you let him move on. So many writers won't do that. And I love the pov of Satine after her death. Great concept.
