TeeJay! I loved this story! It was wonderful and sad at the same time. We always knew (well ager 2x19 anyway) that there would be a point when Joan and Adam had to say goodbye.. and this was it... I admit, you had me sniffling, and when Adam actualy began to suggest blowing off college to stay with Joan I was in tears. We knew she wouldn't let him do that, she loves him too much (regardless of what has happenend in the past) to want anything but the best for him.
Though I haven't read Butterflies yet, I have a feeling this is going to set it up nicely working with the saying.. If you love some one set them free, if they come back it was meant to be... which is exactly how I feel about the whole A/J thing.. they just need time... and it seems that you have given it to them.

Well-written story, and I particularly liked the elaborate metaphor at the end, where an imaginary character sees her life as a book with chapters (which it really is).

I hope this means that you will return to BUTTERFLIES soon.
