I saw the link to this story on the TWOP board and decided to save it for later. My goodness I'm thrilled I did! This is riveting! You've done such a wonderful job of capturing each character's voice! This is the first CM fic I've ever read and I obviously picked a great one!

This is one of my favorite fan fics of all time. The pacing, the slow build, the shocking plot twist at the end of chapter 8- everything was just perfect. Just brilliant. So much love.

I was surprised at some of the negative reviews. Yes, Hotch did something horrible, but I'm kind of glad you weren't afraid to let the team members do bad things. I don't think it's out of character for them to protect each other. We've seen that on the show before; they protect each other from harm and from bureaucracy. I don't think Hotch or anyone else got off scott-free; the punishment he did suffer (JJ being afraid of him) was almost work.

Again, just amazing work. I love this story!

And I really liked you having a quote at the beginning of each chapter, it made it feel like the show. :)

This story is just mind-blowingly good. I love the awkwardness, yet understanding between Reid and JJ. And I feel bad for Reid but I want to smack him at the same time. :)

That was amazing. You had me in tears by the end. You did such a great job with the characters, especially J.J., Reid, and Hotch. The only word I can think of to describe it is wow.

wow amazing just amazing. this was like a real book it wasnt some little cheesy plot. it was very well thought out and full of creativity and intellect. it was like a real plot of the show and it was just amazing im so speechless for what else to say to express how much i love this story!! lol k bye!

I know this is an older story for you, but I can't even express how amazing it was. I can't imagine having to wait for each chapter instead of reading it all at once. I actually got chills...I actually wanted to throw up when Hotch left JJ in that field...I actually had tears in my eyes at some points. You are a fantastic writer to elicit not just emotions, but physical reaction! You should submit this to the show, no joke. While reading this, I could not be distracted by anything else, not even an invitation to join friends at a bar on a Friday night. Your talent leaves me in awe. I am off to find more of your stories!

This story is absolutely amazing. I don't think I could ever write a review that could compare to some of your other ones, but as I'm sure you know from the amount of reviews you have this is a very popular story! It's well written, original... and the whole thing with Hotch turning JJ over... what can I even say? Great job.

This is the best story I have read on this site. In any fandom.
You had me gasping, and crying, and worried sick about the characters I love.
And you ended the story beautifully. Nothing would be the same, but you found some small hope; that last line of dialogue broke my heart more than anything else in the story.

I have never, ever felt compelled to write any kind of review for anything before, but I've been wanting to write one on this story for sometime because it really grabbed my attention and I guess I finally worked up the nerve to do it, for which I have to thank the other reviewers for. I've been reading them off and on for months now.
I too must say that I am somewhat disappointed with the way you ended this story and with the behavior of the characters in it. I guess mainly because it was so contrary to the traditional mold that I've always put these characters in. I've never particularly liked or disliked the JJ character, but criminey; you really give her the butt end of the cow in this one.
That b!#$&*#d raped and tortures her, Hotch and Haley use her like she's a piece on board game, Gideon doesn't even really seem to care about her at all in this one, he appears ready to hand her over to that monster and then acts as if Hotch is the real and only victim when he does hand her over and that JJ isn't even really a victim of anything at all. And at least you had the Hotch character having to face the wraith of the team (minus Gideon of course)and the good grace to be somewhat consumed by guilt,which is still far less than he deserved, but you didn't even have Haley having to face that. She never did face up to JJ, no angry Morgan, Prenitss, Reid or even better, Garcia(who I think could take her). Not only did you not have her to face any music, you in fact left us with her character still believing that they were totally within their rights to do what they had done to another innocent human being, which just had me blowing a gasket as I read it by the way. By not having the Haley character face up to what she and Hotch had done I think you lost the potential for a really powerful scene(and Haley getting a good ass kicking). I must say that this story just infuriated me to no end, but I'm guess strong reactions is what any writer is looking for, so well done!

Found this story after reading "Incentive," enjoyed that one so I decided to find other stores written by you. To be totally honest, kind of wished I hadn't found this one, because whereas the latest, but hopefully not last, chapter of "Incentive" had me feeling kind of good, the team being alive and ok, this story had way to many things in it that just pissed me off. Because I'm the type of person that if anyone were to do to any innocent child of mine, be that child 5 or 55, or my spouse or parents for that matter, what Hotch and Haley did to JJ, I wouldn't care how justified that seem to think their reasons were, I would be forced to give in to my overwhelming urge to see to it that they die a slow and torturous death. That's why I was very disappointed at the relative ease with which you let Hotch and Haley off in this story, especially in comparison to the horrible deceitfulness of the act you had them committing. I mean, the dirtbag unsub kidnapped Jack, an innocent, to use as a pawn, what Hotch and Haley did to JJ, same thing. But where you had the dirtbag unsub eating the bullet he so richly deserved, you let Hotch and Haley off, with the exception of a few bumps here and there, pretty much mountain water clean. Second thing that got my blood pressure up in this one, at least you had Hotch having the decency to feel somewhat guilty, although, in that last chapter you even had him trying to rationalize the act when you had him thinking about "didn't they all realize how much he love his son," as if that made what they did to another innocent human being justifiable. Haley, and I'll go so far as to say Gideon as well, while they saw what the dirtbag unsub did as wrong, they both seem to think that what Hotch and Haley did to JJ was somehow excusable, although for totally different reasons, it was the exact same thing. Perfect example, Haley wanting to have another baby for a clean slate, thinking THEY deserve to have a fresh start while JJ is still suffering the effects of THEIR betrayal and Gideon make JJ suffer even more to protect Hotch. It's a personal preference, but I would have liked to seen at least a little bit more consequences paid, and yes, even suffering by, the Hotch and Haley characters, especially Haley, she got off way, way, to easy in this story. As for Gideon, would have liked to seen somebody kick him in the nads so hard that it'd be a long time before he could, you know. I just prefer stories, just like I prefer to see in real life, justice given out where justice is due and this particular story just had a little to much of the feeling of "two incredibly despicable wrongs somehow make a right' by to many of the characters for my taste.
