This is a great tag. "Heart" was just so...heartbreaking. And mine broke in two for both of them. Liked the story about the dogs; just shows that Dean would do anything for Sammy even if it causes pain for himself. Anything of course, except keep his promise to him if it became necessary. Dean does feel failure to keep Sammy away from pain - he shows it in his expressions any number of times. But his biggest fear is that he'll fail when it counts the most - that he'll fail to keep Sammy safe.

This was really nice - I loved the dog references and how Dean can never really deny Sam anything. I also like what you did with the rock paper scissors thing: "Always with the rock, Sammy.", so that Dean could let Sam get his way without realising he'd let him.

* Sniff * Need the tissues again...

I've watched Thursday's episode a few times, yet reading your story, I realized what the title meant.

Sam's heart broke because of what Madison asked him to do and Dean's heart broke because of his brother's pain.

I wondered about the rock, paper, scissors game and whether Dean let Sam win. I believe he did, just from the looks that Dean had as he observed Sam watching and talking to Madison.

Jensen and Jared's perfomance at the end was very emotional and moving, definitely got us all to feel for their characters.

Yet I also looked at the ending probably differently then most I think. Sam has asked Dean to do this very thing, 'save him' from turning evil by killing him, yet the pain that Sam is feeling for 'saving' (killing) Madison. Does he still want his brother to experience that? Live with that? Sam knew Madison 48 hours, Dean has raised him. (Though I think Dean believes no matter what, there is only one option and that is to save his brother.)

Another excellent story showing us the thoughts and feelings of Dean. You always do an excellent job.

Okay...this one brought me to tears! How poignantly wonderful to see Dean's POV...It rings so true-he would do anything and everything to protect Sam...how horrendously helpless he feels when he must let Sam face it on his own...WELL DONE as always!

I have to wonder how much of Dean's tear was for Sam's pain and how much of it was because of what he might have to do one day?

Yea that episode just ripped out our hearts and like the bad ole werewolf and ate them right up in front of us. I hate seeing them torn apart everytime they start stitching themselves back up. Great tag I really liked it.
