Dark story! I’ve somewhat wondered if there are Gyms like Sullivan’s somewhere in the Pokemon world, a place where the Gym Leader has a murderous style of battling (“winner takes all” sorta’ fighting). Pokemon battling to the death is so much more intriguing than typical battles we see in the show, where the extent of a Pokemon’s injuries are “fainting.” Sullivan, himself, was an interesting character. His reasons for fighting to the death were a tad vague, but for a one-shot provided effective logic. The ending was my personal favorite part, despite how depressing it is. I do think this story would’ve worked better as a multi-chaptered story, because they’re a generous amount of potential with this plotline. But as it is, I enjoyed reading one of your darker stories.
