abuseI don't know about the hearts of ex-English teachers, but as I am a future English teacher (going for my masters!), I'd say that you're amazing. I'd go so far as to say brilliant, even. Being obssessed with the complexeties of our language, I appreciate someone who uses it to put light to wonderful plotlines such as this. THAT warms my heart, a good story, a little romance, and brilliant grammar! I'm going to favorite this, because it's just that fantastic, and you know what, so are you. -Terri

abuseI stumbled across this, I'm not even sure how, but I'm immensely glad I did.
Not being canon aside, it is simply a damn good story. That made me cry. A lot.
In fact I'm still crying just a bit.
And I don't really cry for fan fictions all that often. In fact I don't really read them often.
What I'm trying to say is, bravo.
It broke my heart to see her leave the doctor for someone else. Even if the someone else is sort-of-the-doctor-but-not-really.
lovely.

abuseThis was a fantastic story! I loved the whole thing beginning to end. You've certainly created a masterpiece that follows Roald Darl's philosophy (which is 'grab the little blighter by the throat on the first page and never let go'). I'm not much of one for reviewing and the majority of the reviews I do give are simple 'this is good you must write more' reviews but this was truly spectacular. I loved the way that the story was narrated by the Doctor in such a way as if the reader were the audience only to find out there was an actual audience in the story.

I would love to see a sequal to this story where we get to see Rose's kids (particularly watching Jake, the would be 10th doctor, as a child) but I can see that story as being particularly mundane and domestic, not really up to the quality that this story gives. Still if you could make a sequal as good as this I'd definitely read that too!

Good work on such an increadible story. This is one I'd definitely read again down the track!

abuseWow. Good story, but I found the last two chapters incredibly sad, because John's not really the doctor, and I can't imagine Rose being happy with anyone else. I'm off to cry now...

abuseWell. What can I say, really? I've read this story from start to finish in a matter of hours, and... well... I just. I love it, really. I can't... you brough tme on the verge of tears at least twice, and I laughed at other bits.

Really. Just, bravo.

Another, like this? Soon, please? :D

abuse...OH MY GOD!

I've been steadily reading, too engrossed to review, but... THAT... OH MY GOD!

Like, seriously, I knew he'd be back, and I still don't know if I trust him yet, but... OH MY GOD!

That's about all I have right now.

abuseOh how very... domestic! XD

Am I a bad person for wishing he'd said "Nice to meet you, Rose, run for your life!"

Also YAY \o/\o/\o/

abuseYou are making me wish I'd written this fic -- I very rarely leave chapter by chapter reviews, but, well... I just can't not...

I love the beginning speeches, from the Doctor (I assume it's the Doctor), and... and the therapist, and everyone being so in character. I forget I'm reading, really.

And it makes so much SENSE!

Gah, you're good.

abuseYou know, I've seen you on LJ so much, I thought I'd check out your fic here.

My god, I'm glad I did. This seems like such an interesting, unique, simple story! *is intrigued*

If I don't get any writing done tonight, I blame you entirely *evils*

abuseOkay, so this review is very late - I'm a recent Doctor Who fanatic, shamefully enough - but I just couldn't let it go without praise.
Like your other stories (esp. the fantastic Dawn in LA trilogy), both the characterization and storytelling is perfect. I'd pick a favourite part, but I think it might be impossible. At the risk of boring you, I'll keep it simple and just say that it is among the best DW stories I've ever read. Thankyou for giving me that opportunity!
P.S. I think I have also just become obsessed with Yeats' poetry :)

abuseThere's so many reasons I enjoy this story - it's both sweet and sad at the same time - but there were a few things.
1. "Martha"/Rose. If I read it correctly, Rose's therapist is supposed to be Martha's counterpart (up to the part where she was with Dr. Smith and it didn't work out). I love how they don't squabble, and that Rose's therapist is smarter than Rose is, because Martha was more educated. (And I prefer Rose!) Rose's temporary feeling of inferiority is quite real. When faced with a beautiful, intelligent person like Martha, anybody would be intimidated.
Still, they were close, and the relationship was wonderful. I love how it was written to acknowledged the strengths and beauty of two different but fantastic women.

2. creativity within canon. The Doctor said he couldn't be in two universes, so the story has a love for Rose that isn't the Doctor in that alternate universe. Rose's loss of her memories, the Doctor's reappearance at Bad Wolf Bay, all tied in to "Aiden"'s lovely work - all this tied back to the canon where the Doctor was using one last open space to talk to Rose in "Doomsday". I tend to be annoying about canon stuff, and I loved how the story grew and expanded USING the limitations that canon had put on it instead of disregarding it. So lovely!

3. Captain Jack the dog. :-) And "Rassilon's shorts, I'm not that thick!"

abuseI read this on the Dr Who site (Teaspoon or something?) and just wanted to say how much I loved it. John/Rose as well as 10/Rose were written so believably - and there is that element of loves lost and getting a second chance, written in a beautifully bittersweet way.

I enjoyed most how 10 (it seems that he has just taken his TARDIS and gone forward in time to teach the human Time Lords, is that it?) explained the particular connection Rose had with 9. The way it was played in canon, 9 appeared (at least to me) to need Rose in ways 10 did not; that as much as 10 loved Rose, 9 not only loved her but needed her just to learn to live again, and his love for her stems from the fact that she saved him, that she was his first reason really to live again, not just live for the sake of saving the world.

That feral expression followed by vulnerability when John meets Rose in Norway is brilliant. As much as I love David Tennant's 10, I can't see anyone but 9 carrying that off believably. I could almost see Eccleston acting it out. (I'd LOVE to see this FF acted out.)

LOVED how some of the students whined about the endless Rose stories. Yes, we never seem to know what's actually good for us. :-)

abuseIt's so bittersweet. You did an excellent job playing with emotions, 'cause I'm crying. But I can't quite tell if they're happy tears or sad tears. Maybe both.
