This is so sad. I like that quote you use to start your story off with and I have to agree with him. I always liked the James/Growlie friendship, too bad he couldn't take the dog with him. I think it was a great idea to put this story in the dog's point of view, it makes it sadder to see it through his eyes. At least the ending is not completely tragic and leaves room for hope. Nice job with this.
