Ikasury 2009-06-14 . chapter 6that really is something not very touched on, i noticed while reading this last chap, in most stories we just see the characters as they are presented to us, we very rarely see how they 'were', and i think you've given a very good adaptation to what Sango and Miroku may have been before we 'met' them in the series...
yes, Sango's life in the village is lightly touched on in the series, but you added that depth, that actually raises a good question, 'was sango a completely different person before the events at the castle?' i mean, i'm reading the manga now, just for kicks since i found out its actually finished, and well, after reading this, its made me wonder just HOW MUCH did her family's death affect her? when i think about her personality, she is unusually 'driven' i suppose is the best way to put it, i mean digging herself out of the grave and traveling half-way to her home before getting a shikon shard, the woman was running off of nothing but pure 'drive', and she always seems completely suicidal, if not just lacking in any care for her own well being... i find her extremes in emotions unusual, and well i find her an interesting character, and reading this honestly made be feel stupid for not considering the damaging effects her life had on her, that she could in fact be a 'broken' person... kinda adds A LOT more depth to the character then i previously thought, and kinda makes me have a lot more respect for her... Miroku as well, he seems like her parallel in certain ways, only he deals with things in an obviously different manner...
i mean, most of them are 'broken' people, in one way or another they've had their traumas, and i honestly think only Kagome isn't 'broken', cracked maybe a little, but she doesn't seem to have had that really 'breaking' moment like everyone else has... and again i feel really dumb for not thinking about this more sooner, i mean i knew it was there, but it was like 'just there' so its something you don't pay attention too...
anyway, i've really liked this one, you do well with semi-tragedy, and i have to say you've got fluff down to an art-form my friend, been reading your other stories :P i just felt compelled to comment on this one, i'm one who loves a good tragedy, and its my opinion that if you can write one well, and manage to give it a happy ending you're a d*mn master ^.^ i think this one qualifies...
especially since it pointed out something so obvious, even i missed it ^.^
till next *salute-waves* Sayounara, PoF!!
