Ya know, I thought this was going in the direction of being somewhat like Itoshi o Tome (a really old, obscure yuri manga) but I was wrong...It was the thing about the harem that made me think that. I love this story so far!!

An one of a kind idea! Nice story! though i think that the middle part of the last chapter could do a little touching up but that's just me. anyway you impress me with another story that any reader would take the time to read. *ahem..*thumbs up

I love your creations to no end.. Just when I thought I had cracked the secrets of your plot I find myself moments later in disbelief and giving out a somewhat loud "what!?".. I believe it is what gives your stories that sort of addictive and wonderful quality..

So another great and exciting story by you. Personally I really liked the whole mermaid concept, I kind of wish there was more of it. In my mind I kind of envisioned Himeko to be the curious mermaid that saved Chikane, but this way works really well. Great story, very amusing and heartwarming.

Well! I'm quite surprised to say that I enjoyed this story very much. I tend to dislike AU fics, because all too often the transition to another setting, another background strips out the essential nature of the characters, making them OCs that happen to have the names of a particular canon.

This fic does not do that. It does a nice job of preserving several of the basic elements of KnM (the star-crossed love between Chikane and Himeko, the personalities of the leads, the conflict between Orochi and the world, and the burden of destiny placed on them by past lives), while transitioning them into the "Little Mermaid" fairytale. I must admit that I would have expected Chikane to be the princess, but after considering it your casting choice makes more sense--the mermaid is the active initiator of events in the fairytale, and Himeko has to learn to break out of her passivity. Chikane is obviously considerably less tormented than her KnM model is, but that follows because the past-life burdens placed upon her are considerably different.

On the down side, there are a couple of places where Makoto's actions don't always seem to make sense (especially where it concerns Chikane and Himeko's relationship, she seems to attribute more knowledge to Chikane than Chikane actually possesses), and the other seven Sages' personalities seem to exaggerate drastically towards good or evil (Korona and Reiko on one side; Tsubasa, Girochi, Miyako, Souma, and Nekoko the other way) which actually strips them of some of their complexity from the original series (well, okay, Tsubasa, Souma, and Miyako...I'm not going to call Girochi and Nekoko "complex"!!).

Conversely, I like what you've done with Otoha and Kazuki, and several of the original characters (the kitchen staff, the gardener, and the steward were especially nice), and Makoto's final chapter actions were the kind of thing that came out of left field when I read it, whereupon I immediately started kicking myself because you'd set it up so I should have seen it coming).

One question--in the epilogue you mention that the remaining "Four" Sages had retreated into seclusion, but shouldn't there be five? Or have I somehow missed a line where one of them was killed and I'm just sounding silly?

wow, that was something... i love how you deliver the story... say author, have you already tried publishing this? just change the main characters names' and you'll have your own story in a book... you are really great, do you know that? i am looking forward for your future stories... can you at least make a of ShizNat (Mai-hime/ Mai-otome), Shizuma X Nagisa (Strawberry Panic) too? well, a simple thank you is not enough to show you my gratitude but i hope you would likely feel how truly i appreciate your works for making this one and your other kannazuki no miko stories... i'm glad i get to read your works... till then... thank you...

This story was just unbelievably fantastic! I pretty much never post comments after reading stories, but this outstanding work that you've crafted has drawn me out of my lurking ways. E, I've grown so obsessed with reading this wonderful fan fiction, - like most of the readers and reviewers here - that I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen in the next chapter during school. Gah, I absolutely love your writing, keep at it!

I just noticed that message U sent to Aloneness. Her name was really familliar so I looked it up.
And I found that she was writing Capturing a Heart (so thats where I knew her from) which I was really loonking forward to read. As she hasnt updated in a while.
It's really sad at to what she has done. It's really awful. I mean it could be ok with permission from the original author (which is U in this case) but doing it without permission and taking credit for someone else's work just isn't fair. But I sincerely hope U can come up with a sollution. I like her work wery much too. And doing this kind of bad bussines concerning Chikane/Himeko pains me a lot.

I'm utterly amazed at the language you used and how you developed the story of the two lovers. What was really good was the fact that you concentrated on the other aspects of the story rather than only on Himeko and Chikane. I was astonished by how emotional the story was, I actually cried ^_^! You have my thumbs up, keep writing, you have great talent ;)
