Reviews for The Man Who WouldBe King

DANG! That was cool! You've really captured Damar. I always felt kinda bad for him-especially when all the stress he was under made him turn to the bottle. Very well written!

An interesting character study, but I don't think that it suits Damar. He didn't seem to be a drunkard in his pre-Legate days, and it seemed to me that his rise to power was a result of his utter loyalty to Dukat.

Of course, the idea that he did want Dukat's power and position cannot be summarily dismissed; Damar may have indeed wanted that. But I don't believe that was his intent when he killed Ziyal. I think he did that out of some twisted sense of loyalty to Dukat, believing that killing Ziyal would be better for Dukat in the long run.

However, since he's a fictional character, this is all speculation, haha.

Oh, someone's still writing DS9...and Damar, even. Lovely! It's a nice character study, though I'd agree, it's better suited to the later Damar. I especially liked the little details, the winter home, for instance. More please? Definitely keep going!

It took me a moment to figure out the exact timeframe of the story (I'm like that sometimes...)

I like the story, but it seems to fit Damar's personality later in the show in some ways more than it does at the beginning of the war. It's good no matter where it's placed in the continuum though :)
