PlayInTheWaves 2008-09-09 . chapter 1If I had a heart, I think you just broke it. Poor Braig. Nightmares are awful.
Your fic is listed on the Kingdom Hearts Fanfiction Recommendations (khrecs) community on livejournal. As well it should be--this was staggeringly perfect. I applaud.
I also cannot believe that there aren't more reviews for this. Your characterizations are amazing, your writing style is gorgeous, and I sincerely hope you keep up the good work. |
lily23 2008-08-05 . chapter 1Oh my god. That was awesome and powerful and stuff.
"But Zexion doesn't cry, and Xigbar isn't afraid of anything anymore. And Dilan - Dilan's long dead."
I love that line. |
Fira Bella 2008-07-25 . chapter 1I found this via khrecs (on livejournal) and absolutely loved it. I've always had a weak spot for Xigbar- he just has so much potential as a character. The Sombebody vs Nobody relationship was perfectly described and not overdone at all. I really can't find a single thing wrong with this- it's beautifully written, well organized and a wonderful read. Plus you mastered that almost-angst that the Nobodies always seem to convey. This is one of my favourite fics in a long time, so thank you for writing it. |
Tuna Salad Sonnet 2008-06-08 . chapter 1There are no words. This is absolutely gorgeous. I would attempt to give you a better review, but it's almost 3 in the morning where I am.
I am definitely going to go spread the word about this fic though, if you don't mind. |
Kurotorachan 2007-12-30 . chapter 1painful and twistedly angsty but none the less wonderful. |
Draconic-Master 2007-11-09 . chapter 1This is something truely beautifully written, all the statements put into it- how they could tell exactly where this was leading them and how Xigbar is acting. Just the wording gives me chills because of how well it's put together, the whole 'someone else's memories' woven into the story was great. Wonderful story and wonderfully written. |
Magentian 2007-05-24 . chapter 1Ignore the anonymous coward.
Although comparitively short, this was so beautiful and evocative that it took my breath away numerous times. The anonymous-coward is right; Xigbar should have retained all his memories according to in-game facts. But this is trivial compared to the amazing attention to atmosphere and mood that was given to this piece overall.
I have to say, too, that your sequence of events seems really likely to me. The little details of what happened strike me as being very appropriate; for example, I can definitely see Even getting migraines, he just seems like the type. The flash of light when the heart is parted from the body of the wolf made an excellent contrast with the overall dark and fearful mood; then the profanity of the experiments was brought home even farther by Braig's physical reactions in the next paragraph, and the others' impassive expressions. I'm not sure whether it was accidental or intentional, but I got a chill when Ienzo called Braig 'Xigbar' - just because that infers that they all could see where these experiments were going, and that concept would be truly nightmarish, especially to Braig.
Probably my favorite line was "There's an energy inside him that will not submit and it crawls in his veins where blood should be beating." The meter and lyrical aspect of that sentence really captured the whole anxious mood of the fic. I wished I could sing it, because it sounds like it should be sung, like a line from a really good song. The whole fic was something like that, but that line especially so.
Anyway... amazing, amazing job. With this piece, you portrayed beautifully all the perversity and horror of the Organization's experiments, while retaining an eye for the human and inhuman aspects of the central character you chose. I really loved reading it, and I look forward to seeing what else you'll produce in the Kingdom Hearts forum. |
Eoko 2007-04-29 . chapter 1 Okay, I really don't mean to be a b.tch, but as a very, very, very insane KH2 fan - example: wrote a 3,0+ word referenced essay on why Nobody's can fell - I just thought I might mention the reason I read the first few sentences of your fic and then proceeded to hit the review button.
I'm sure the fic is find, but your information is flawed at the start. Sure it's the premise, but you could add a Slight-AU warning or something. Nobodies retain all their memories. The only ones that didn't are Roxas and Namine because they are unique and special. Saying they don't have memories and can't remember their lives prior to becoming Nobodies, when it's about anyone other than Roxas or Namine goes directly against in-game facts.
If you don't believe me google "Secret Ansem Report" and you'll find plenty of sites with them posted. Yes, I'm an insane, obsessed and crazy individual. But I'm not the only one and I feel the need to do this. Perhaps because it is 2:30 in the morning, perhaps I need to seek phyciatric help, however it is done and now you know, so you can do whatever you like.
Happy writing. |
LuckyLadybug 2007-04-23 . chapter 1... Wow. It's a crime that no one has reviewed this! You portray Xigbar's emotions so well, how it feels like he's seeing someone else's memories and whatnot. And I'm always intrigued by the general relationship between him and Zexion, and their past selves. I wonder if Ienzo blamed himself for what happened.
You write with such wonderful details, explaining everything but not getting too graphic, and telling just enough to leave the readers wanting more! I really like the ending too, where Xigbar and Xaldin are sparring (?).
You also dove into the horror of the research the six were actually doing, and what it would entail doing. Wow. ::had known, and yet, had not really known or thought about it.::
The Org's memories are something I've always been confused about. When Xemnas spoke to Ansem, it certainly seemed like he had all of his memories. And yet I'd always imagined them not really recollecting things. I wonder if different members have different levels of remembrance.
Anyway, awesome fic! I love how you write about these characters! |
