royalhighness789 2009-06-02 . chapter 2Beautiful. I loved the movie and Jane Austen's novels. You meshed the two together perfectly.
I actually teared up reading this because it was so incredibly moving. I could feel Jane's regret and longing but also her peacefulness and acceptance. Time is really merciless. This is a wonderful closure to Jane and Tom's story. Keep on writing! I look forward to reading more of your writing in the future! |
paperbackwriter9 2008-11-20 . chapter 2Wow, that was really good, and sad in a way. But I too love Jane Austen and Becoming Jane. I never knew about the other book she 'wrote,' Sanditon. Now I have to go read it so thank you for that note! |
sequinedfasade 2008-06-10 . chapter 2This is such an amazing piece. I love Tom and Jane's bantering, despite the time passed between them. You write so wel1! The language you use is wonderful. Very well done! Thanks for writing this! |
Orioncat 2008-03-18 . chapter 2Okay, I read your other story this night and I have now finished this one. Maybe it is because I am emotional tonight or that I am listening to the Becoming Jane soundtrack, or a million other reasons, but you truly write with heart full. I thank you so much for creating this story. I had to cry for this one too. And I am not a crying kinda girl. You have an immense talent. I do hope you employ it often, and find great success with it. Thank you once more. |
MariahDezie 2008-03-06 . chapter 2Ahh you had me crying. Jane Austen's life was crazy, I really wish that herself and Tom Lefroy would of had a happy ending.
Keep writing Jane Austen fics!! You write so well. |
LondonGirl27 2008-03-05 . chapter 2This was such a lovely find. I only wish more Becoming Jane fics were available, and written like this, as well. :) Wonderful job! |
Owl Emporium 2008-02-25 . chapter 2This was so wonderful and beautiful. I loved it, great job! :] |
Alwaysjaneausten 2007-12-03 . chapter 1 I have been a JA fan since high school and I'm still very much a fan at 60! This fanfic was superb...I loved it. I thought your writing was wonderful and the story line plausible. I know alot of "Janites" are upset at the liberties taken in the movie Becoming Jane regarding what is known of JA's life. We all realize that Jane would never have eloped with Tom. But I loved the thought of what could have been and hope that in reality she had true love in her life. Does it really matter that this story was based on speculation and imagination? It made us feel good.
I must compliment you on your writing skills...you should consider writing a book and having it published. I read alot and some of the books that get published are not as accomplished and the writing in them less than worthwhile. You have a wonderful gift. Thank you again for a wonderful story! |
Angel0fNight88 2007-10-15 . chapter 2this story was breathtaking and I actually cried! again lol I loved it ...plz let me know if there any more fanfiction stories on here for the movie becoming jane |
Genevieve Ridel 2007-09-27 . chapter 2 Thank you so much for your addition to Becoming Jane. I seen the movie several times and really didnt want to see it end. Your addition is very moving. I really loved it.
Im not a writer by any means, but I thought since it is a fan fiction, wouldnt it be interesting to have Jane survive and get together with Tom Lefroy and his children, perhaps having his wife pass away. What a great continuance in having her get acquainted with his children. (7 different mini story lines} Oh well, just a thought. Thanks again. I loved it. |
Ablaeixley 2007-09-24 . chapter 2Beautiful, truly beautiful. I am enamoured with the works of jane austin and was subseqently thrilled when i heard of the release of 'becoming jane'. Since watching it i have been subjected to scouring the internet (for my own piece of mind) to find good fanfictions based on the film. Bravo my friend, you have made my day (or rather my night as it is gone past 9)
Though i do have one annoyance with this story though i am not sure it is duly deserved. Like most other readers i would have preferred a kiss -being only human- but ... i find a correlation between your story and Austins novels as there is a strangely perfectly unsatisfying quality to the ending. So perhaps you were correct to deny the readers a last moment of passion between the great Tom Lefroy and Jane Austin. Well Done. |
Rebecca 2007-09-19 . chapter 2 Oh my Lord that was wonderful!
I would have maybe liked a kiss, but that may have been too improper.
I urge you to write an alternate ending to the movie. Just as you described in the ur story.
Please please please! I would love to read it so much! |
 In Darkness Is Light 2007-08-17 . chapter 2Aw! I loved it! :D |
Iago96 2007-08-15 . chapter 2I love this! I wish that Jane Austen could have had her happy ending but sadly real life often gets in the way. You had me crying for the whole of the second chapter. |
Kelsey Estel the TolkieNarnian 2007-08-13 . chapter 2Icha, tears are rolling down my face now. That was beautiful. I love that they're reading "Persuasion" to each other(probably enhanced because I finished it myself earlier today).
I've only recently become a Jane Austen fan, when I saw, by chance and boredom, the 2005 Pride and Prejudice with Kiera Knightly and Matthew MacFayden on HBO. And I fell in love with the story, and went to buy the novel (as well as Sense and Sensability) the next day. Jane Austen is now my favorite author.
Just yesterday, I saw Becoming Jane (it has only just come to the theater near me). Such a beautiful tale. And then, finishing Persuasion, I began to wonder if, indeed, the story of Jane and Tom was true (and I'm sure Jane would have loved this story, no matter how the critics squack), why couldn't they have thought of the same? If only Tom hadn't married Mary Paul, he could have made enough money and then come back for Jane, as Captain Wentworth did for Anne. But that's just wishful thinking. Perhaps it was her wish, as well.
But this review is of your story, not our mutual love of Miss Austen. Wonderful story. I don't know what else to say. I loved it completely. I can't say whether it is your story or the whole tale itself, but Tom reading Jane lines from Persuasion on her deathbed is just... so romantic and so heartbreaking at the same time. But I will allow my actions to speak louder than my words (though I'm not sure our favorite novelist would approve of such an idea!) and add this story to my favorites list.
Thank you! |
