Reviews for: An Alternative Epilogue

Today we know that this kind of end was indeed impossible. Still, it is a very fitting end, and one I would have wished particularly to the two of them. And it is a nice story well told. Thank you for it!

I found your story because of your comment to the "where your treasure is" and decided to see who you are and whether you had written something in fanfic. this is a lovely ending, and I so wish that JK had not killed Snape, he deserved to live and find contentment and peace if happiness would not be possible. very enjoyable!!

This is very sweet and an excellent proposed ending to the series. I think many people would like it better than the ending JKR has given us. Thanks for writing this. Your English is better than many a native speaker!

I was a little confused at the transition from her memory of Professor McGonagall to Luna and Neville, who seem to have survived the battle. It was a little unclear.

I love the idea of Hermione as Librarian and Snape as Headmaster, complementing each others strengths and weaknesses. These two characters, JK's creation, and fanfiction's polishing have such a wonderful ebb and flow together. Your oneshot takes all that came before into account and evokes a beautiful sentiment for their future. I especially like stories that I can play out the years to come in my mind. Thanks so much.

"dubious pleasure of the wizarding world’s constant gratitude”

Great line.

I like this ending -- it's quite hopeful, even as it reflects the toll of the war.

A very nice little story; clever, too - it didn't seem quite Pince-like, but I never guessed it was Hermione. Sadly, I think there is no chance of such a happy ending in canon, but we can dream.

A very gentle piece. Your ending with Snape's "scar" was lovely. I like the blend of pain and peace. The English does have a lot of difficult, hard to understand parts, but your problems with the language do not completely obscure the beauty of the piece.

Well done!
Your personal vision of the last chapter of the saga is original and elegant.
The famous Rowling’s statement saying that the word “scar” will close Harry Potter’s adventures, in your fiction depicts just one of the many contests in which it can be inserted.
Your interpretation and setting of this word is not obvious, regarding Snape’s scar and not Harry’s.
Of course this end meets more easily the taste of an adult reader for the choice of characters and subject, as well as for the feelings transpiring from Hermione’s thoughts, pain blend with pride and serenity.
In this epilogue nothing is too much evident or too screamed, being the story rather an invite to guess, from some hints, the destiny of some people, the mature and disillusioned choices they made.
Thanks for this peaceful story. I really hope that Snape can survive and have a chance to live like a free man.

That sounds like a god article in the Baltimore Sun - is it online anywhere?

It's a nice story, although the English is a little mangled in places which makes it sometimes hard to understand. I think, myself, that the last sentence of DH will refer both to Harry's physical scar and to Snape's unhealing emotional wounds which Dumbledore referred to in OotP, and will be Harry thinking something like "But there was, as Dumbledore had told him, more than one kind of scar."
