2008-05-05 . chapter 13
I just wanted to thank you for your work!
English is not my native language so I had a lot of difficulties watching and trying to understand the lines in movie which I liked so much :)
And then I found your "Vignettes" and... I am so grateful to you! Because now I can understand some scenes (very precious to me) much better.
And I wanted to ask whether you plan writing it further...
The story ends with a promise of continuation but there is no one :)
Anyway, even if you got out of it I thank you very much for what you've already done!

Best regards!

I'm really loving this, only...

"He then began to read a passage about the reproduction of insects."

Well, this isn't right. The passage is about the mating of birds, not insects, which gives the line "…the female utters a loud, piercing cry of ecstasy," more sense. By the by, **fanning self** McAvoy's reading of that line! OMG! **fainting**

These vignettes are so good, and yet so heartbreaking. **sigh**
Lovely. Keep up the great stuff!

I really like what you did here. Especially with his sudden departure because of disappointing her.

Again wonderful characterisation, the difference between them being that he is bound to social conventions and Jane in the laxer country is not.

You're going to finish these, right? Because, I have to say... I NEVER got a chance to see the movie (due to rather.. interesting circumstances) and seeing as Im in America (where the movie won't come out on DVD until December!) fics such as this, youtube, and the occasional spoiler are ALL I HAVE!

Plus, your writing is very true to their circumstances (though I havn't seen the movie, I know their tale very well *sniff*) so please, write more! :D

I loved this scene, and of course the whole movie! It was so artfully done, with such care to detail and every glance was significant, such as that all-knowing, tinged with sadness look when Mrs Radcliffe watches Jane and Tom walk down the stairs.

I thought it was so sad, this scene. It really was like that. Ann Radcliffe knew what was going to happen to Jane and Tom. :( It was happening in her own life and she didn't wish it on anyone but it is true too, you know: a writer can't really do much with their abilities until pain and suffering is endured... (and there's me who can't write when I'm satisfied with life.)

o the next scene is my second favorite scene. gah... without actually touching, they made one of the sexiest scenes... EVER...

Strange...I read this the other day and skipped back to read it again tonight and realised I hadn't reviewed! A thousand apologies, I thought I had already done it!

Once again, lovely work. I love this scene because it shows that girl power in the literary world preceded even the brilliant Jane Austen, and I just love the fact you put all the history at the end of the chapters. You are a damn good writer my girl!

I just paid for the rest of my trip to Europe and my friend and I paid for our rail pass so we can go to Bath! Jane Austen mania, ye-ah!

Aw!
I couldn't believe it when I spotted a Becoming Jane fic- they're so few and far between! And I really enjoyed it- your description of their perspectives is exactly what I imagined when watching the film... I'm not ashamed to admit, actually- I got kind of teary reading this (yes! I am serious!)
Now all I have to do to wait anxiously until the DVD comes out- but I don't know if I can hold off til then(!); having said that, will be keeping an eye out for your next update! :0) *edges forward in seat*

I, too, am horrified that the movie took so long to be released in the US -- primarily because I wanted to see it sooner! We Americans can be silly sometimes, but there's lots of us who love Jane -- we're, unfortunately, at the mercy of evil movie studios. In any case, I love your recreation of crucial scenes, I cannot imagine the amount of work you put into them. Please continue, as it will feel like eternity until the movie comes out on DVD in the States.

2007-08-23 . chapter 8
This dancing scene was my favourite part of the movie. I loved how dejected Jane was, and how awkward dancing with Wisley was for her. The entire time I was thinking 'where's cutie?' Then suddenly, he was there, and I could feel myself grin like and light up exactly like she did (her reaction partially determining mine). It was excellently done, just like this chapter.

I like the idea of Tom hiding from her behind a curtain! His uncertainty is almost reminiscent of Mr. Darcy, and I you did an excellent job depicting Tom already being in love with Jane, but unsure of how to act on it.

It's been quite some time sicne you updated and the general world now knows the greatness of
"becoming jane"

Now i ask for updates... And for more drabbles... especially the scene when Tom and Jane reunite after that disaster at London. That kiss?! That moment where he says "I can't do this anymore..." and he just takes her and kisses her?! BEST SCENE EVER.

I can't remember where it was said... But I remember reading that Jane Austen actually asked for the letters to be destroyed at her deathbed...
