I love how you write Hiko and Kenshin. I thought that line about a traumatized slave with bed-wetting issues was funny as hell. I think I should feel bad for Kenshin...but I just can't.

I was very intrigued by your profile and decided to read whatever you got. I like it, and I plan on reading more.
I watch that reflections OVA as well and though I don't have all the manga I did do some research as to the ending, and I agree with you, that OVA was crap. I like the happier ending myself.

As for this chapter, thanks for sumarizing and not using the same words or the lines. For me that gets tedious. and I skip along when people do that. So I am very happy that it didn't happen here and I was able to get the full picture.

I like how this played out. Oh and by the way... what you were saying about the anime how Kenshin-san went out to ask around Kyoto the whereabouts of Hiko-san... Wtf! I didn't even notice that until you mentioned it! Hah... That was an interesting discrepency! I loved this story. I had my own suspicions about what type of slave Kenshin-san might have been and who might have used and abused him... I got teary reading your interpretation of Kenshin-san's early years of suffering. :( You're a great writer by the way. I'm enjoying reading through your stuff very much.

that was so kawaii! i loved the part with ken-chan looking at the "pretty fabrics"! oh, and i agree completely with your views on the rurouni kenshin anime. they comepletly killed that manga with the anime, especially near the end. ^.^x

Wow. You know so much about historical Japan and the language! I went there for two weks and I don't know half as much. Do you live there or something? I bow to the skill of a master writer. And dedicated, a fic like this would take painstaking research. I am honoured that you have deigned to read (and review:)!) my...attempts.
Anyway, any criticism would be unnecessary and untrue, spawned of jealousy. This is so good.

realistic and down to earth. one could only assume the worst what slavers would do with a pretty little red haired boy. such suffering. his lot in life did an extreme about face when hiko went back for him. you gave the manga/anime account of that incident more depth and feeling.

This is great! I was looking forward to reading more about Kenshin's days as deshi though so I was a bit disappointed that it's over. Anyway, excellent writing! Maybe you'll consider continuing this with another fic? *wink wink hint hint* ^^

Aww... my heart just went out to Kenshin. This is beautiful. I like Hiko's voice in this, it sounds really like him. And I'm looking forward to Kenshin's progress. Pretty good fic! ^^

Well researched and a very nice segueway between the OAV and the anime. I didn't get Hiko's comment about the waterfall though, but everything else from the painstaking faithfulness to the OAV right down to Hiko's insightful knowledge of Kenshin's inner strength, was amazing.

Actually, that last line is rather ominous when you realize how the style is actually passed on.
I think you did a good job of balancing Kenshin's servility with his growing sense of purpose.

I love Hiko's line, "Oh great...he'd have to pick an emotionally traumatized slave with bed-wetting issues."
