Oi! Before I get to *this* chapter, I wanted to point out something I just noticed as I reread the first chapter. When Kakashi says something about Kisame dying, he says it was on the edge of 'Sand Country'. It should really be 'Wind Country', because the Sand is only the name of the hidden village there. Just needed to point that out. ^_^

I absolutely ADORE the style of the flashback. Even though I'd read it before, I can tell you polished the shit out of it; it's really amazing and SO well emotionally stabbing. Just violently heart-wrenching. Love it! XD

--Wanted to point out the cut flow of this sentence. (I feel that I should give you the most well-rounded review possible, 'cause I love you and we gotta help eachother!) Anyway, the use of 'again' three times in that sentence messes with the otherwise flawless flow. You probably want to remove the first and third uses. ^_^

"One of the eternal mysteries of her home was that her room was always several degrees warmer than the rest of the house; it was possibly due to the balcony doors, as her mother had explained once, but Sakura still felt that there was something more to it than that."
--I *think* you probably meant to say that her bedroom is always 'several degrees COLDER' than the rest of the house?

Plot! PLOT! What an intriguing one you're constructing here! O.O I really like the originality and idea behind the 'why' of the Uchiha clan. They're like a wild contingency plan against a failing government... Or perhaps more like a doomsday device or apocalypse of sorts. o.O It's really an interesting idea to think on. I wonder, will you bring Uchiha Madara into the fray?

And what is Itachi up to now, I wonder? If he's really in a state of insanity, and also on the path of Konoha's destruction and rebirth- if I were him I would be A) gathering a mob of delightful minions (which whom I would inevitably name 'The Snakes' XD) and/or B) be planting my seeds in every village, only to come back years later to gather them all up at tender ages in order to form a small, wholly demented army of Uchiha heirs.

But that's just me. ^_~
