music_of_the_night 2008-03-30 . chapter 1 i love this. i bow down to the power of the awesomeness that is your wanda maximoff. the realest chick in bayville. |
Risty 2007-07-04 . chapter 1Time to review this one also, because of all of the first five, i think it's my favourite. And I was just trying to explain to John why. Extract of MSN convo included:
Reenie says:
her rogue is great in a similar way, but wanda really is something special
John says:
Oh, I see what you mean.
Reenie says:
Yeah, I think it's really the ultimate in how I'D like to write - so that every sentence explains who the character is, without hitting anyone over the head with it
John says:
Agreed.
John says:
It's a really intimate sort of third-person narrative . . . In which every line reinforces the character. As though filtered through his/her perceptions.
John says:
Quite lovely.
Reenie says:
exactly
He said it more intelligently than I was, so hopefully it'll come through. |
Rhys 2007-06-09 . chapter 1 You know what? Wanda's never been this character that fascinates me, so I'm not going to leave a great deal of substance. I'll just say that I still love how you write all the supporting cast in this, Pietro reads far to much cosmo to not know how to alleviate menstrual cramps and I have missed your Jean-Paul absurdly without knowing it. |
Kamikaze Angel 2007-05-26 . chapter 1 Wow. You have no idea how thrilled I was when I realized that you'd updated not only once, but twice!
I love your Wanda. I love everything about her, from the crazy issues to the family issues to the making out with Sam goodness. I love the way she sees things. And the cool versus hot pockets...I totally got that because that's the exact way I am. Thus my love is forever cemented.
Of course, I also have crazy love for the other Maximoff twin as well and your depiction of them together was breathtaking. Pietro being the only one Wanda gets and the way he was so afraid of being ditched...those are the moments that make me just stop because those kids are really messed up, but now they have each other which is good enough for them...I need to stop rambling and get on to Warren's story, don't I? Yes, I really, really do.
Thanks so much, glad you've still got a few stories about these crazy kids left in you. |
requiem 2007-05-11 . chapter 1 it was so amazing! the way u were questioning all the things the rest of us take for granted.. and the way u had wanda wondering all the time whether she was being weird since she didnt know what normal was... it just made so much sense. absolutely amazing. i cant wait for pietro's. and this oneshotish thing really makes me want to go read ur past stories. but i have no time. which is depressing. but i loved the story. love the dialogue. uberly amazing. |
Lilac 2007-05-10 . chapter 1 Thank you!! So much^^ I've followed the whole evo story (caught up in the middle of evo 3 and yes I know this is the first time I post a review... shame on me...) and I'm so glad you decided to tie up some remaining knots. You've created such living and kicking characters one cant help but wonder how things go on after the end... The dry humor, huge undecurrent of emotions intertwined with verse story lines just had me hooked from the start...the siblings dynamics too is a definite catch in your stories not to mention all the JP Pietro goodness^^ cant wait to read the next installment so again thank you very much for your dedication to your stories that give us so much pleasure to read |
Amelia Glitter 2007-05-09 . chapter 1Yes! Just what I needed to take my mind off of my goddamn finals. Beautifully written, as usual. I love Wanda's POV. I can't wait for more! |
rima 2007-05-06 . chapter 1 beautiful! cant wait for the rest!! |
girlonthem00n 2007-05-05 . chapter 1Oh! You are writing again! You don't know how happy that makes me. I've always enjoyed your stories. You're portrayal of Pietro is the best. Can't wait for the next! |
Minerva Solo 2007-05-05 . chapter 1*g* You're back! I think the oneshots idea is great (looking back, apparently I thought it was great when I was reviewing Thicker than Water, so it's good to know I'm consistent!). I especially liked the talk between her and Magneto, showing his attitude to his own change. And her talk with Pietro, too, thinking about it; I love the strong sibling bond between them now, and their understanding of it. Wanda, I admit, is not a character I engage with a great deal compared with some of the other Evo kids, but with what's here I'm /really/ looking forwards to the rest! |
Evil lobster girl 2007-05-05 . chapter 1I loved this story. Your style is so unsentimental and real. Did you write that piece at the beginning because if you did, wow. Well anyway please keep writing. |
 Vialana 2007-05-04 . chapter 1Oh, yes!
I'm so glad you're working on this. A series of character-based one-shots would work perfectly to tie things up. And to start off with Wanda and all her issues ... perfect.
Awesome, awesome writing. Wanda is so real in this. I love her self-awareness and her awkwardness when it comes to her own feelings. The scene with Sam was adorable and works so well just because of that.
She's not a whiny emo-type character, there really is a lot wrong with her, but she knows that she has to - and wants to - deal with things, but she still manages to rely on the people around her who care just as much as herself. She really is a strong character and that really comes across here. That final scene with Magneto was perfect because of how she'd been characterised throughout the rest of the story. You really do get a feeling of strength and determination from the whole piece.
I honestly love how you write Wanda; it's exactly how she should always be portrayed.
I'm really looking forward to what you're going to do with the rest of the characters. Warren next ... that should definitely be interesting. I'll keep a close eye out.
Again, fantastic work.
