Writing is Good

Plot is Good and Original...so far.

The thing I like is how you add little explanations of things, so things are understandable to non D&D players. I only played one game meself, so these things help us oblivious out there.

Also, I can't help but be reminded of the first session of a Heavy Gear campaign I just started... in that the GM spends more time explaining how to do things than doing tings. It brought a satisfied smile to my face.

Advice: Write more... NOW! I really want to read more.

Ever since reading the Evangelion manga, I find myself hating the anime adaption of Shinji ever since. I guess I find his...animated version a bit too much of a wimp, lol.

Anyways, aside from my grievances of seeing that version of Shinji, I am actually enjoying how this fiction started. It's pretty long for an opening chapter, and some of the dialogue, particularly where Kensuke started to explain things, did drag on for a bit, but all in all, it seemed like a good opening chapter.

Well I certainly was not expecting that when I opened the fic. It was really well done, good job with it. The characterization was all there, they all seemed to be in character their character choosing reflected it although, Touji playing as a Barbarian was no surprise at all.

The pacing was done well and I can see the potential for future romance in there. Obviously with Hikari/Touji and the potential Asuka/Shinji or Shinji/Rei.

When they get into the game it should be interesting especially if they choose to fully Role Play. When I played and I've only played once we tried but there wasn't really much scope as our DM was a bit crappy. Throwing a level 1 druid against an ogre.

One part of the plot I did like was how the character sheets and backgrounds tended to reflect what had happened to them in real life. I could possibly see the game reflecting it as well.

Don't really have much more to say except I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Keep up the good work.

Eberron rocks. I mean, ahem, as another fan of both D&D and Eva, I'm amused by the idea of this story, and rather ashamed I didn't think of it first. Good job. There are a few rough spots. As has already been pointed out, the interaction between Shinji and Rei didn't have the right feel to it, and neither did the level of Shinji's self loathing. Also, there's a spot of really rough transition right when Kensuke goes from reviewing Asuka's character sheet to Rei's. I had to reread that several times before I was sure about who he was talking about.

As for the D&D side of the equation: Eberron rocks, but the comment for a generic setting wasn't a bad one. However, as an Eberron fan, I approve of your choice. Party mix seems good, two combat monkeys, a skill monkey, heal stick, and boom stick. I'm glad someone's Marked too, even if they don't get the "d'" in front of their last name. Also, for Shinji, as DM I'd recommend him either taking the Mark of Making for himself, or rock out an Aberrant Mark chain. Between the Players Guide to Eberron and The Dragonmarked, Aberrant bearers can do some pretty f'ing cool things. Rei's choice to be a worshiper of the Flame is also good, as the Silver Flame has some ** prestige classes. 'Course, they're not a Shifter Moonspeaker, but then again, who is? I was kinda disappointed in the rather, well, vanilla class choices, but at the same time I'll admit I'd do the same. I mean, it just wouldn't be the same if the party was a Shifter Warblade, a changeling scout (which actually might be more Hikari's speed, but the changeling rouge does get the 10 skill points base racial sub for a few levels, which is just damn sexy...), an Elf (or maybe Kalstar, as they have some bad ** racial subs, and would mean she'd probably be from Sarlona, furthering the 'way too eerie close to my real life' vibe they're all getting) soul-knife, a half-elf favored soul, and a human warlock. Sure, recognizable names for the classes, but not Core Book recognizable as it were. And isn't Kensuke just being retro? I mean, from the sounds of it 4th Ed is hitting the shelves 2008, and he's running 3rd ed? Just kidding, I can't hold the use of the current rules against ya (but I do have from a reliable source at my FLGS that 4th ed is probably August 2008...) Anyway, hope to see the next chapter soon!

Well, this certanly was interesting... I'm a D&D fan, though played with the forgotten realms ,and I really like NGE, so this was a nicely original piece.

Another person commented on Shinji's self-loating and Rei-fearing tendecies, and I agree. From what I've seen he's not exactly afraid of her, just find her a puzzling mystery, and unable to figure it out.

For Asuka's part, sure she bother Shinji and other a bit, but I think you overdid it a few degrees. Being up-set over Rei getting Shinji's attention is normal to her, but as far as I know she did not directly reffer to Rei as a 'doll' before really late in the series. (I am not 100% sure where in the series this is suposed to be, but I do know that Asuka reffered to Rei as a doll AFTER Toji got molested in unit 03. He seems fine to me here.)

No matter, this was a really interesting and original piece; I'm waiting eagerly for the next chapter.

I really enjoyed your story. It does remind me of another story that I haven't read in a while. They both had the creation of characters in the first chapters. Yours however, goes more into the characters that they create and the details of the world they will be playing in.

I am looking forward to seeing another chapter.

Seems interesting. The game to life parallels were a nice touch. Another story to look forward to.
