Interesting piece. It is great to know that Horatio has been reincarnated at least once.

It always makes me a little sad when fic writers use Archie as double H's best buddy. He's got like a paragraph in one story in Mr. Midshipman Hornblower, then he float's away never to be heard of again. Mr. Bush was so much more to Horatio. Best man at his wedding, both of them. Not to mention in on the fact that Horatio cheated on his wife while hiding out in France. Heck a book was ever written from his perspective. His idol Hornblower from the adoring eyes of Mr. Bush.

I did not watch the Hornblower series, so I don't see the problem. You did not transpose centuries, just brought over someone with simular name and character traits. I like the story. Somewhere, I think the real 5th officer Lowe is smiling a wan smile and wishing it had really happened.

I still love this story, even on the fourth reading!
