abusePoor Ned...I really am at a loss for words beyond that. To do what he doesn't want to do, but has to...

abuseThis story delivers an emotional punch that just leaves you breathless. I liked Ned's character in the books but never really felt that they developed him much. Here, you've humanized him in a way that really brings him to life, that makes his pain tangible, that makes the reader ache for him even as we know that he's about to leave Nancy, that he's found someone else. This line was especially telling of his mental state: "She constantly tempted fate and continually won, but one day fate was going to beat her and take her away, and he knew his fragile psyche would shatter into a million pieces because she wouldn’t be there." As much as I hate that he hurt Nancy, there is no better reason than this for his leaving her. To be the one at home, always worrying, always wondering if she was going to make it back to him in one piece -- you've depicted so well what that struggle is like. Bravo!

abuseSo sad. You really made me feel sorry for Ned, a rare thing. You wrote him very well, he was real, human. Poor Ned.

Great job, Shallowbunny.

abuseFirst of all: It's wonderful to see something of yours around here! Thanks for sharing.

Second: Flawlessly done. I ached for both of them. Bravissima!

abuseYour writing never ceases to amaze me. Impressive as always. Now I’m not a fan of Ned but you have managed to make me understand and maybe like him a little and I felt so sorry for him. I kind of thought of him as a police officer’s spouse or military person’s spouse. I figured it must be hard for him to watch the one he loves almost get killed over and over again but it never registered, until now, how truly difficult it would be to deal with it continually. I hope that makes sense because right now I’m still reeling from how amazing your writing is. As always your emotions are flawless and your imagery is at its finest. The branding was especially impressive descriptively speaking. God I’m gushing. I’m going to end this because I’m having so much trouble expressing just how wonderful a job I think you did with this piece. Please continue writing, I’m not opposed to a follow up even though I don’t like Ned Nancy, because it means you’ll still be writing. And please update Chaos and Artful.

abuseNO! That's so sad. I like/love Nancy and Ned as a couple. It was a good story. Really, it was. Just sad. I like it when Nancy and Ned are together. But as ulstergirl said, can you please do a follow up? That's would be kinda cool :) Hope you write more soon :)

abuseIt's even better the second time around. ;) Congrats on making me feel bad for Ned; it's rare that I ever do. I hate to see him be made into the "bad guy", but you avoided that by giving him very valid reasons for making the choice that he did. You made him human, and not just Nancy Drew's boyfriend. Well done! :)

abuseit's probably awful of me but it would be great if there were a follow-up to this where she did something to try to get him back. not necessarily being successful at it, but at least doing something about it.

and, this was quite good, glad to see you around again. =)

abuseHey Shallowbunny! Long time no see. You always wrote Nancy's character the best. I love the way you've created her. She's so fragile and yet so beautifully strong. I miss your writing. :)

abuseGeez... I never ever expected that ending! Ned really shocked me!

But first.. I'm so impressed by the emotion you created for Ned. I felt so.. burdened.. for him! I felt as if I were really in his head, or hearing his actual thoughts. He was so real, and I felt so bad for him. Yeah, Nancy does what she loves.. but Ned deserves to be happy and have the stableness he so much desires!

I love the way you wrote how drawn to Nancy he really is. How he couldn't resist just once last dance, one last moment of perfection in their ending relationship. I think it's perfectly normal for someone to want that, kinda like a last request.

This was so good.. but so heartbreaking! I certainly felt Ned had the grounds for breaking up just because of the torment and worry he went through everytime she was on a case, so the part where he met someone REALLY shocked me. I didn't expect that at all!

This was so good and it's so great to read something from you (wink wink) because you truly have a gift for writing! Great job!!

abuseThat's so sad. I feel bad for Nancy, also kind of for Ned because I think it is probably hard to watch Nancy get hurt. You're such a great writer I hope you update Chaos soon.
