Loved the description of Sesshoumaru's scent "like the forest air before a rain, lingering wherever he had been" and how Tora misses it. She may think herself unwomanly and unladylike, but the fact that she misses Fluffy argues that somewhere inside she's capable of sentiment.

Your account of the forest at night was delightfully spooky, as was Tora's ascent into danger.

What's this? Ack! A cliffhanger ending? Too cruel, but it definitely makes me anxious for more!

The description of Katsutoshi's barrier was really cool. I liked the bit about using trees to 'anchor' it. It made sense.

Sesshoumaru's farewell was typical of him, short, brutally honest, and to the point.

Pity about Tora being a lady samurai by training. She can't very well scratch Katsutoshi's eyes out in a fit of feminine rage when he says something stupid like 'use your feminine wiles'. Even though he deserves it!

That's just too funny - the part where Katsutoshi is trying to be all dramatic, gesturing towards the window, and Sesshoumaru ignores him. Way to burst his bubble!

Good fight scene too, though I was miffed that Katsutoshi got Tora's hair without having to beg her for it. It would've done him good to not get what he wants. Still, at least there's Sesshoumaru, ready willing and more than able to knock the forest demon's colossal ego down a peg or two.

Tora came across as a real parent this time around. While the slap was a bit shocking (especially after Rin was so sweet and threw herself on the lady samurai when she woke - that bit made me smile), it's in keeping with the reaction of a frightened but relieved parent after finding a child is actually OK after being in danger.

I also had to smile over Katsutoshi's verbal sparring with Sesshoumaru. Why indeed would he hang out with his little entourage if he disdains the weak? It's a question Sesshoumaru neatly sidestepped by ignoring it, and that in itself is quite telling. I just hope Katsutoshi is over using Sesshoumaru's companions as leverage. While I'm getting the sense that he's not purely evil, I don't quite trust him yet.

You make homemade stuffing? I'm in awe. The last few times I've tried it it's burned on the bottom of the pan since my family freaks out at the thought of cooking it inside the turkey and insists it gets cooked outside. So for the past couple of years it's been instant stuffing mix on the stove.

Curiouser and curiouser! I can't quite figure out Katsutoshi. Either way, Rin is right, things are bound to change.

Can't wait to see what Tora will do about it when she wakes. I miss her when she's not an active part of a chapter.
