I've been following yours and falluke's hunt for the origin of "Little Lotte" in Leroux, and it's wonderful how all that work produced not only a lovely English translation of the original poem, but this poignant story.

The story gives you a good feel for the Swedish countryside, too, with good sensory detail. I could almost smell the fires...

I have a weak spot for "young Christine" stories, and especially those that are sad (because Christine's early experiences are) but not morbid.

Once again, a beautiful untouched corner of the canon brought to life. Very touching. I like to think that the vignettes we all do, the ones that illuminate the dark reaches untold by Leroux, add up to something.

Thanks, and congrats!
