Just a note: It can be very distracting for the reader to come across a dropped word. That would be where you meant for a word to be, but it isn't there. When reading this causes almost a 'hiccup' to the reader. Other than that, I would say you've done a great job with spelling and syntax. The story reads and flows well, and since you've got me hooked, I'd say that's a good thing.
