I've been meaning to review for a while, but this is, without a doubt, the best companion piece to "Living Doll" that I've ever read. The poetic prose style is beautiful (I particularly love the insertion of 'We were never in Kansas, Toto'), and I like how while Grissom and Sara's relationship is the central theme, you worked the other characters in as well. Her conversation with Nick is touching, and very telling for both of them. I also like day 5, her anger beginning to simmer the surface, and I chuckled a little at her initial desire to add "constant urge to hit people" on the chart.

But what really makes this story so wonderful is its refreshing realism regarding GSR. Things *aren't* all bunnies and rainbows between them, adeptly pegged on day six where she lashes out when he's been nothing but attentive and/or self-flagellating. While the depth of their relationship is clear, and provides a strong undercurrent throughout, there are - as there should be - still some hurdles on the way over the fallout from this. And I really like the comparison, at the end, to the first time he kissed her. "Bit of a mess then. Bit of a mess now" - perfect.

Excellent. I love the lines ending with, "Bit of a mess always." Terrific characterization of Sara -- especially her anger -- and the interaction with Nick is realistic and in character for both of them.

This probably is the most realistic look at reunion that I've seen so far! Excellent look into Sara's mindset. I hope you revisit this several months down the road of recovery.

This is utterly and completely beautiful. Touching, and it's just the way I think about this... mess. It's a mess, and it's unfair, and very upsetting.
