Great short ficlet. I would disagree with you that a moment of joy constitutes fluff. (No more than unmitigated angst makes a story profound--a misconception I deplore in fanfic writers.)

Nothing about this piece is fluffy and the underlying theme is heavy with loss and foreshadowing.

This is just sweet and simple and lovely. Absolutely beautiful. I especially love this line:

:P Silliness aside, this was amazing! Gah, I hate it how you always say "my writing sucks" or "I can never do anything" and then you go ahead and write something incredibly amazing that makes everything I write look like a piece of shit. *annoyed*

I swear, despite only having read The Silmarillion six times or so and not shipping anyone from there (hell, I hate Beren and Luthien!), I'm probably going to start shipping Fingon/Maedhros because I've been reading so much about them...
