I've seen Nao/Shiho pairing in a couple fics now, though I have no idea where the crack originates. However, like all crack, it's primary strength lies in the skill of the writer, since there's no canon basis to build on. That also makes well written crack a great change of pace.
So far, this is decent and has potential to be very good. First person is hard to do, but you've avoided any large mistakes. Nao certainly feels right. All that bitterness doesn't just go away, even with some of the root removed. There are still years of experience and habit, after all. Plus, her mother's financial situation after a long coma may not be great. Shiho's harder to say, as she's in somewhat different circumstances than the series, but she doesn't feel off. The end to this chapter in particular was nice "Well... maybe just a bit."

thats pretty much Nao in the Hime series. wreaking havoc, using people and skipping class. lol. and her thoughts were definitely on the dot. hm...so are you going to switch to shiho's POV or go on to 3rd person? =3 to tell you the truth, i see shiho in a different light now. lol. -sigh- im so judgemental when it comes to characters in stories. but yeah! keep it going! lol. im cheering for shiho to grow a backbone and nao to fall for her. lol XD XD XD

i don't know about Shiho Munakata X Nao Yuuki but i think Shiho Huit X Juliet Nao Zhang can be an interesting couple from the way they teasing each other. ^^b mostly Nao ^^"

just like you said, i also think nao is a fun character to write when she is one of the side characters. she is surprising hard to deal with when she is the main character. but don't worry, you are doing a fantastic job. you've made hime nao/shiho very believable, in character, interesting, and most importantly, likable. other than this fic (obviously) i've yet to read a story where hime shiho is likable (to me).

I was really surprised to see another chapter. I really thought you'd leave it like a oneshot (...Like that awesome vampire ShizNat you did once...). But I'm sorta relieved. This pairing is not too common, and yet, they fit so well together.

I liked the characterizations a lot. I wasn't much of a Shiho fan in HiME, but I found out that in Otome she's alright. At fist, I wasn't sure if a ShihoNao multi-chaptered fic in the HiME verse would really be... apetizing, so to speak. But you're doing a really good job. So I will continue reading if you continue writing. X3 Keep up the good work.
