Wow. That was pretty deep. I wish we could have seen the scenes where Kurama was cleaned up after both Karasu and Gama/Touya/Bakken. Who helped then, what was going through their mind and what did he look like?

Wow. this is short..but so wonderfully written. haunting even.

Although it's so short, it's still really good. The last line was so perfectly fitting for Karasu. Poor Kurama, half dead but still with his face perfectly unmarked.

As short as it was, I loved it! Yusuke was portrayed very well. That last line sent shivers down my back. Great job!

This gave me goosebumps. Freaky! I would have screamed if I had been Yusuke. But he's a tough guy, of course. Yusuke wouldn't squeal. :D Again, I just love these little drabbles of yours, and this one is added to them!

your way with words is extremely exquisite. What makes it so dark and chilling is that the story is told through Yusuke's eyes. Yusuke is always the can-do, jump-into-action type of person. His utter helplessness speaks volumes at seeing Kurama nearly dismembered and destroyed, yet at still kept ironically flawless at the same time. Was this was Karasu intended? The audience knows, but Yusuke having to figure that out is what makes it so much more dramatic.

Sweet bejesus, that is the creepiest thing ever in the history of the world. I can’t even drag stuff out. And… Yusuke-Karasuness… also my favorite creepy thing ever in the history of the world. Just… love. The whole description of messy post-battle body and “bitter aftertaste of smoke” [which, calling it afterTASTE was an interesting choice and upped the creepy quotient by quite a bit], and his face… something about it being completely flawless now they’ve wiped off dust, soot, blood “smears from careless hands”… hands. I don’t know. But there is Significance there.

Damnit. Okay, I can drag a little. I’ve already quoted out of context.

“Flawless, white, so peaceful and still… so beautiful that he can not determine if the turbulent unidentifiable emotions swirling inside him are really because Kurama looks dead lying there rather than asleep.”
- For all the Sleeping Beauty and Snow White things that come to mind, and for the Yusuke/Kurama implications which are almost comforting and would be if it weren’t for the rest, especially the last line.

And, “He is too far away—he can’t see if Kurama is breathing, he can’t feel if that pale cheek is as cold as it looks.”
- Because it reminds me of something. Paranoid child, used to have to check sleeping people all the time to make sure they were breathing, maybe that’s it. Inside-squeeze of not being close enough right this second, I get that.

Okay. Kudos for the last line. So ‘ah yes that’s where we were going the whole time’ and just *shudder*

Oh... creepy. Even though the audience is aware that yes, this is what Karasu intended, seeing it through Yusuke's eyes makes it extra chilling. Good job.

I was going to wait before reviewing, as book I am reading seems to have taken over my brain, but...just couldn't.

It's a good thing this is short, because I think I held my breath from the summary until the very end. And then I twitched...that was really a sucker punch ending...wow. Ineloquent maybe, but that's what it boils down to. I had to stop, and looking at it made me shiver.

I wasn't looking to see if it continued on past what was actually the final line, and when I realized that nothing came after, I was free to just sit there with my mouth open.

I don't know how you can do this to me with such tiny stories; I really don't. It's a talent...and a scary one. :)
