I personally am not one of the "popular" (read "supremely evil") kids, but me and several of my friends are well-learnéd in philosophy and debate through self-education in the form of reading and discussion. Will Artemis encounter anyone like that?

PPPS: I'm writing from MA. I know a gay friend of the family who is a hairdresser (which is a stereotype about male hairdressers and gay men) whose husband is a former Italian Catholic, now a Jewish convert and a Rabbi, a Chinese friend whose parents speak fluent Hebrew, and another friend who had organized Second Formal Thursday: Every second Thursday of the month he and some friends dress in really formal outfits. It's a strange world out there in high school, and at my high school nobody would bat an eye at Artemis.
