This was so beautiful, it's hard to find words to describe it. Your depiction of Matsumoto & Hitsugaya's relationship was such a wonderful read, and so well-written. I love how you showed the deep bond they share as captain & vice-captain, and I love even more how you showed it as platonic as opposed to subtle romance.

The ending was wonderful, but particularly these two lines:

"Only those who truly know you best can dance on your wounds and insecurities and heal them that way."

&

"But sometimes, when he’s hurt or when she’s not looking at him directly, she thinks she can also see a boy under the warrior, and until she knows that that one’s going to be all right, she’ll stay right where she is."

I really like your style. You state things in a way that is hard to describe. But I like it a lot. The fact that you wrote this in present tense helps with the voice too.
I like your interpretation of HitsuMatsu. It's not improbable or mushy. It's got that no-nonsense attitude of Hitsugaya but that intangible quality Matsumoto's got. Heh. Their romance is like them.
