sparklegemstone 2008-08-16 ch 15,	abuseWow. Brilliant story. The narrative, characterizations, structure, flow, it was all great in my opinion. I started reading this because I'm really enjoying Circle in the Sand. I think you did a very good job of incorporating into your story expository information from the series that a casual viewer would need reminding of (e.g. that the Doctor's bursting with energy after a regeneration) without it seeming like it was put in to explain things and it didn't break the dramatic flow of the story at all. I also loved how well you incorporated things from the series and referenced all sorts of bits of canon, like how the Doctor was feverish in The Christmas Invasion but how that was different from this situation, and thought the inventive twist you took with Rose being able to channel the vortex energy was spendid (even loved the foreshadowing of it in chapter 11(?) and how you related that back to Nine not wanting her to touch him). The scene that stuck me as most poweful was when Rose was stuck upstairs as the Doctor had his three lives taken away. The "NOO!" at Michelle speaking French was brilliant. The Doctor's insight into Rose need to say goodbye was really interesting. I would have liked to see a bit more of a grudge held against the others because of the hell the Doctor and Rose went through, but that's just for my own personal satisfaction ;-). The ending seemed to wrap up a bit quickly, but it was very Doctor Who-ish, except for when the Doctor opted for openness, which made the gesture profound. Summarising: thanks for the well plotted fic with good characterisations and lots of Doctor Angst. Never enough Doctor angst in my humble opinion. One thing I don't understand - why didn't the Doctor just sabotage the machine, then demand that they bring him the Tardis before he'd fix it? That would be the same situation that it ended up in and he and Rose wouldn't have risked their lives (and Europe) running for it. Otherwise a really good read and I thank you very much for it. Looking forward to your next fic and hope it comes soon. I read the first half of this many months back and then lost it. I couldn't find it again because I was spelling Piranha "Piranah". Very glad to have found it again so I could see how it all turned out. Thanks. Now here's hoping I don't lose this again... hitting submit...
